AMX 40 might be getting more armour soon, that’s it been missing for a short eternity. So we can expect it at the same time the chieftain gets more armour.
It still wont change the fact that the AMX 40 sits alone at 10.0 with the next best tank being 9.3 which is 2 BR steps below it :(

Don’t forget the sloped Comet too.
In testing they were found to be not very effective. In WT that’d be different. They’d be quite useful against HEAT, HESH, and HE.

I did put through a report to remove the optical rangefinder on the Mk 3 and 5. Maybe that’d be enough to drop the Mk 3 to 8.3 and give the Mk 5 L15A5. Lol.
IDK how it wouldn’t be that effective, the Comet already had nearly Tiger level armor, So adding on what looks to be a extra 25-30mm of armor, SLOPED, would be a decent upgrade.
Tiger hull is 4 inches flat, Comet is 3 inches flat. It’s only the turret front that’s comparable.
Huh? I thought the later pattern Cromwells, and the Comet, both had like 75-100mm of frontal armor, i have multiple books that say as such.
Sorry, got my Imperial conversion wrong. Comet is 76.2mm flat front hull plate, so 3 inches. Cromwell is 64.5mm, so 2.5 inches.
Only some welded Cromwell’s and late production A30 Challengers received 1 inch (25.4mm) applique.

I don’t play the game enough to unlock this these days, but i absoultely will grab it from the Market. Since most british things end up there anyway for cheap. (Minus the Strike Master)

I look forward to it coming, I don’t look forward to how it will be modelled. 6x fixed sights, side NERA copied over from ch2 and the turret ERA being glorified Blazer lmao.
However it looks cool and it will be better than the 3td for sure.

The 6x fixed sights arent actually modelled on the 3TD at the moment, the 6x magnification is very dubious and I think gaijin are aware.
The side turret armour is completely new, I dont really think its fair to say it’s just blazer lol
The side NERA is also going to be new, I think in this case they just added the 2F’s side NERA for weight testing
The main benefit of the CR3 is having blowout panels, entirely new armour, full spall liners and potentially a better engine alongside lots of other changes such as getting a LWS
Having a significant amount more UFP armour would be nice in general
Im more thinking about how GJ will view it.
We know that it’s a massive upgrade over the current Challenger in almost all areas.
It’s just without solid proof I don’t see them modelling it much different than what we have currently. I can genuinely see BN still being top dog/equal.
I’m hoping we will get a glimpse of CH3+APS this coming year, we went with trophe in the end right?
