And jaPZ is awesome good glass cannon.
Thermals + Laser + Ridiculous autoloader + Slightly better dart on normal 1km range.
Vs No thermals and no autoloader
Both have their ups and downs, but I prefer japz over tam.
You can put it in your 8.3 lineup - the only consequence being able to meet 9.7 tanks, which imo, can still be dealt with in an 8.3 tank given you play smart.
Yeah, it’s round is better than DM23 found on the M48A2 G A2 which has worse mobility and optics than the JaPz.K A2. Also the JaPz.K gets a lase and a scout drone which is useful for spotting distant targets.

ultimately it doesnt really matter, but most people are pretty content being allowed the possibility of ignoring it in favor of the tam
The issue in this case is that both used to be 8.7, but then they upped the TAM to 9.0 without doing anything to the JaPz. I already pointed out to Gaijin back then that such a move would completely shaft the JaPz because it would be left on a BR island on its own (planes notwithstanding, but I don’t play planes in GRB), and leave it basically obsolete TT-wise.
I’m honestly slightly surprised that this thread only started up now, instead of right after those BR changes.
IMO they should swap, but I know that isn’t everybodies cuppa.
Is there anything that can be added to Germany at that BR that’d be 8.7? Maybe another upgraded M48 or Leopard 1?
possibly the leopard 1a4, it was stabilised but lacked a laser rangefinder, and you can clearly see how they got the leopard 2K turret from it

Why war thunder players BEG for WORSE experience? TAM is better machine so grind TAM skil JaPZ if you`re not interested in it or its poor lineup. Why would anyone wish to get longer grind and worse techs in main line?

In all seriousness I guess it all depends on personal preference, but I much prefer the JaPz’s thermals and 4 sec dart slinging over the TAM’s stab. Not to mention that it is also smaller, and thus a much better sniper.
Yeah it’s stuck in a BR island, imo it should be 8.3 if anything, yes it has a lase, 4s reload and APFSDS, BUT it has no armor and is vunerable to SPAA and autocannon vehicles.
Don sleep on that auto loaded APFSDS with decent thermals and a laser rangefinder. Tank can be a sniping menace.
Ye, JaPz also has a use but because of it’s location in the tt - 8.7 BR island and costs more SL than a higher BR tank. Remember Gaijin prices SL based on the vehicle’s BR not it’s performance.

JaPZ is one of rare vehicles what are on a good br spot, and maybe 0.3 too low.
Yes , only flaw is no stab, but good thermals, laser and awesome dart combined on 4s autoloader makes it deadly.
It is glass cannon, and to be fair nothing is safe from 35mm Spaa meta, those melts terminators hulldown also…
i dont see a situation where i would pick japz instead of TAM. TAM has survivabiity, doesnt lack firepower, has stab and mobility. THe only situation JaPZ is better is when its downtier and you camp enemies. But thats no gameplay. TAM is more flexible with tactics of use, and more agile in situations you have no control in
