The amount of explosive is equivalent to 32.5 kg of TNT, so the HE penetration force is estimated to be around 67.5 mm.
The diminishing returns in penetration for larger and larger amounts of explosive filler in HE shells makes me think there should be a secondary damage mechanic for explosive yields above a certain threshold. Perhaps the ‘radius of destruction’ mechanic found on bombs and the Sturmtiger’s rocket. Given that the M55’s HE shell has only 1.44 kg less TNT equivalent than the AN-M30 100 lb bomb, it’s logical to assume they would have a similar effect.
In case anyone remembers test-driving the Sturmtiger two weeks or so before it was obtainable, the rocket didn’t originally have the bomb-like radius of destruction effect. That meant it was susceptible to the pitfalls and bugs which affected normal HE shells, like this.
As it stands now, I can’t see the T92 HMC’s shell being much more effective than the M55’s, and in turn the M44’s.

It is believed that the destruction radius mechanism is already in place, it just isn’t displayed.
From my own experience using them, the 3OF45 used in the 2S19M2 has a destruction radius of at least 2m, while the M106 used in the M55 has a maximum destruction radius of around 4m (against unarmored vehicles).
A 240mm M114 grenade would have a destruction radius of about 5m.
Displaying a “destruction radius” on HE shells is a very good idea and should be implemented.
However, a tricky issue in the game is the definition of damage to crew members. For example, the unconscious state of a crew member displayed in black during the kill camera may represent a real-world human suffering from internal organ rupture due to overpressure, severe burns, or instant death from shrapnel, or may represent shock symptoms due to eardrum rupture or temporary concussion. Depending on this, the destruction radius and overpressure factors used in the game will change.
