T72 Trunion

In X-Ray the T72 is supposed to have a trunion that prevents APFSDS rounds from damaging the breech or the fighting compartment. Despite this, my breech has been destoyed countless times in a place that is supposed to be the most protected area. I couldn’t find any documents regarding the trunion so is the way Gaijin models the T72 trunion in WT realistic already or is it underperforming?

Gaijin said they’d get around to modeling it so enjoy your OP spall and round eating buff for all T series vehicles

Yipee! (This is the only T series I will be playing for months because this is the NVA T72 :c )

The Trunnions is part of the Weapons drive, I’ll assume that is just another structural part/module without side-effects when destroyed, we may see this part of the vertical control mechanism of the cannon, I might be wrong because I won’t be able to run tests on my own:

These were added as part of a plan to nerf Soviet tanks to fall more in line with Nato tanks but gaijin added them said they’ll finish them eventually and called it a day. Like the Trunion can’t be destroyed and only makes them more BS to destroy the breach of. Very convenient they just added it and said they’d get around to it.

Kinda like when they added the BMP-2MD at 8.7 with worse armor for 2 years before fixing its armor.

Be happy its not like on the Leo 2 tanks where it has an extra spall modifier to generate more spall (only tank that has that)

It’s a drastic improvement on before the trunnion was added, even smaller auto cannon rounds would slip through and damage or destroy the breech.
As of when I last played ground, it’s a volumetric nightmare that can either let a round through with next to no resistance or more likely, given the comparatively small are you have to aim at and the shape of it, just suck the round into a black hole taking zero damage.

My poor ZTZ kept being victim of this all the time

Damn, rlly? I’m getting rather close to the Leo 2 and modern MBT part of the tech tree, that sounds like a nightmare to deal with.
