I doubt 8.7 is enough.
They use reload as a balancing tool as well so I dont really see problem there. I just find weird putting an unstabilized heavy with relatively low velocity cannon at such BR.
Not on autoloaded tanks by the way.
It obviously has other qualities that make up for that.
For most but not for all. Char 25t used have nerffed reload because of balance. Or at least that what they siad and I am pretty certain that’s the case for T54E1, type 10 or amx m4 for example.
Well mostly the reload.
Yeah, good luck nerfing the reload speed of an autoloaded tank by almost double.
Really good gun handling, decent armor and nuke shell help as well.
It’s for starters, but I can see it being 9.0 even.
But past that and it gets interesting.
That thing needs to have it’s stats halved to be considered balanced. I doubt a single BR step would do that.
Anything below 9.0 is shameful.
It reminds me of how the BMPT is currently implemented and how no amount of BR changes can truly fix the core issues with them.
BMPT can’t die when hull-down and is extremely annoying to deal with.
T58 is quite survivable and enough armour to stop any autocannon fire, and can penetrate and one-shot practically anything (even when they just show their tracks), with little to no repercussion for missing other than having one less round for another target because of its 2.6s reload.
Its low velocity rounds aren’t really a problem when most maps in War Thunder take place <300m anyways – especially around its current BR. 36 degrees of turret rotation also means that it can’t easily be surrounded, unlike the SPHs that people complain about.
Agreed.
Aware T58 simply cannot be engaged by either hard pushing or side scraping due to how it’s HESH works. Even multiple people might struggle to time their push due to it’s amazing gun handling and reload.
When looking at those stats, any ground vehicle from major nations with that amount of battles is ridiculously broken and the 0.3 BR slap on the wrist simply isn’t enough.
Well then you are right. I guess they once again changed their stance but then I dont understand why they ignore those other vehicles. And honestly cant wait to see them to try balance out T54E1 with 1.71 second reload.
I never said it should be doubled. I think those 3.8 seconds that it had on dev server would be alright but that doesnt matter. 9.0 it is I guess.
The gun handling as whole is avarage at best at 9.0 and even that is a stretch imo. Yes the turret rotation is great but 4°/s gun elavation is subpar and most importantly it lacks stabilizer.
It will save you against poorly placed shots but at 9.0 almost any APFSDS will easily go trough upper parts of its turret and destroy your massive breech and possibly even ammorack you. Also it doesnt really help that it trades that armour for its mobility.
The shell is great but it can be unreliable and I think that it’s the reload that helps to negate that.
Most tanks at 9.0 have ~24 degrees per second of turret rotation speed if they’re lucky, with 4 degrees per second being standard throughout most of that BR until ~10.0 / 10.3.
Of course, some exceptions being the KPZ-70, MBT-70, XM803, OF-40 (MTCA) and XM-1 Chrysler / GM.
With decent anti-autocannon armour, good gun handling, really good HESH round and 2.6s reload to compensate.
That’s true, though its armour shouldn’t really be relied on at that point – just the reload, round, and gun handling.
Yes.
Because documents provided aren’t enough to get them buffed.
My bad.
Getting autoloaded tanks to reload slower than what accepted documents say is really hard, so increase in BR is much more easy and likely.
Horizontal traverse is one of the best you can find at 9.0.
Vertical traverse isn’t good but still you’ll easily find vehicles with around 4 degrees of vertical traverse, like T-55AM-1 for example.
Lack of a stabilizer is definitely a con, but with it T58 would be a strong candidate for 9.3.
Guess what T58’s HESH round will do to any tank that even shows a pixel of it’s tracks ?
Looks like T58 dodged it’s BR increase.
They really like their money.
Good day to see the t58 didn’t get nerfed especially since some people think it would be fine to put it at 9.0+ maybe at 8.7 but anything higher than that is just ridiculous
I sure hope its hard to kill a t58 from a is3 from the front, i dont want to get killed by a tank 1 whole br down from the front, that erases the concept of a heavy tank.
Not to mention it’s what is designed to do destroy/go up against Soviet heavy tanks like the is3,is4,is7 and so on
Yet another player defending this blatantly OP vehicle with which he somehow performs much better than with his other vehicles.
This would be all that’s needed to get absolutely mauled by rabid posters, only if T58 belonged to another nation.
It’s also destroying whole tier it sits at.
Oh noo a strong not op tank that was meant to go up against is3,is4,is7 and other similar tanks and anything with weaker armor then a heavy tank like the ones I mentioned can’t go toe to toe against it is doing a great job at doing… the only thing I see the t58 getting a nerf in is it going to 8.7 and getting more modules to dmg
This isn’t strong, this is OP. It’s in fact so busted that it helped a guy with mostly negative K/D go into a pretty decent positive for reasons.

Historical matchmaking isn’t a thing in this game.
I agree with that 36°/s is nuts but that’s the only part where it shines.
That’s just not true. Maybe for soviet vehicles, M60/48 platforms and type 74’s but for everything else it’s more around 5-6°/s. All chieftains, leopards, merkavas, amx 30/32s, ztz-88/96, etc. have better elevation speeds on top of also having stabilizer.
I was talking purely about gun handling there since stabilizer enables you to move the even past those speeds. And yes the round a reload are great but if you cant get your gun on target faster then the enemy those wont really help you.
Definetly but as I said at that point it’s just detriment to your speed.
