Does it have thermal imager?

+1 quite a cool variant

If it is indeed LITENING II, it should have thermal imager

Yep. There was also a spherical sight planned for it during early 2020s (I think) according to a brochure from TAM, but can’t find any further proof or reports. I’ll most likely put it in the list soon though

+2 for Israel (as an Azeri Vehicle since Azerbaijan does operate the KM) and for a future Ukrainian TT

so basically a much worse su25sm3, and is a su39 equivalent essentially. not bad, but not amazing

does it still use spo15?

probably no, r73 was shown on su39 outermost pylon on trade show, does that mean it could carry it there? ofc not

I was always curious about that, but I’m still unsure if the true answer. Firstly the image shown below depicts that it can use them there:

This could always be a mistake, or even a Su-25KM exclusive, likely the former if anything.

There’s also the fact the underwing pylons are the exact same, and why would they even mount them there in the images shown if not for usage? It doesn’t seem to be a display of any kind. If they can’t be used on the furthest outter hard points, similar to the Su-25T and Su-39, than I get that (Again all it has backing it up is that one image above). But for all the underwing hard points, it seems like there’s enough evidence to suggest the capability to use R-73s on all the hardpoints is present. Gaijin could omit them for balance ofc, or just neglect the photos as they aren’t to the standards sourcing requires for its addition.

It’s kinda ok, doesn’t offer a whole lot though would could be another event Su-25 to back up the Kazakh one in the Soviet tree.

I’d say it’s better than the Su-39. Opher guided bombs are standoff weapons, and it can carry 8 of them which is quite advantageous. It should also get a TGP, likely the LITENING series with FLIR which is something the Su-39 lacks. It also gets HMD which doesn’t mean much of anything for strike purposes, other than targetting slaving, but it’s a nice addition for air combat and R-73 usage. Lastly it has a great cockpit, but that doesn’t mean anything outside of sim. The only thing I see the Su-39 having over it is the Vikhers (however you spell it).

I think gaijin will just go with loadout charts, considering they’ve denied the su39 extra r73s even with this image.

actually loadout chart for su-39 says 4x r73 oddly enough so it can carry r73s there. then its kinda surprising that other su-25s can’t carry it there

The fact it’s a display is quite important. Gaijin has a policy of only adding weapons that’s were tested or used on an aircraft, with some exceptions for present compatibility. This image doesn’t really prove it’s compatible on that pylon (same could be said for the other images I’m showing as well), and they’re inert mockups at that, just like the R-27/77s it’s been seen with (which I’m still of the opinion it couldn’t use, but that’s another topic for another day). Unless we have test firing footage or something of the sort I doubt they’ll change anything on the Su-39 or add additional R-73s to this one.

Maybe it’s the two outter-inner pylons then? That would actually make it an even better counterpart to the A-10C since both would have 4 IRCCM AAMs.

yeah. This revelation makes me surprised that the r73 isn’t shown as being usable on the 2nd outermost pylons then on the su25km
