The APS looks like the ones on the T-55AMD, which is extremely effective at stopping all types of ATGMs.
I have one question, can the APS on the T-80UM intercept Spikes? if it can then I’ll probably start spading it

Im not sure about ingame, but irl its designed to intercept RPGs and ATGMs not top attack ATGMs. I remember it once intercepted ATGMs coming from a helicopter, so maybe it works in the game.
The T-55AMD can intercept helicopter AGMs by looking at the direction of the helicopter, very consistent I would say. The Spike comes at a weird direction, I hadn’t researched any vehicles with Spike to test it out in the custom mission as I can put AI in a state where it can intercept ATGMs. 10.7 onwards I get hit by Spike a lot, most doesn’t kill me in one hit but they are effective enough to hit me with every shot, turning it into a repair simulator.

Its vertical interception range is limited, so it can be said that ‘it can intercept, but it is unlikely to intercept’ lol. Mainly depending on your luck.
By the way, there were some issues with its APS a few years ago, such as when the top attacking missile(TOW-2B) fired from the front would trigger its interception animation, but it would not successfully intercept. You would see the interception system working, but you would still be destroyed. I wonder if this has been fixed or not.

Hmm, I thought the hardkill APS lacked the launching animation of 107mm projectile as the enemy’s ATGMs just exploding mid-air. Let me run it again to take a closer look.
Probably the hardest vehicle to do well, I personally find the Object 292 and T-80UM2 are more user-friendly, though Moderna might be having the closest M900/3BM46 equivalent ammunition at 10.7, the thing that make this T-72 stands out is the secondary 30mm cannon, you still can fight back when someone got your barrel or breech, it will straight out delete most light tanks (except PUMA) and break breech and tracks that turns it into whose crews can repair faster. There is a reason why I buy the Ace crews
It’s pretty good, a bunch of 130sp partial downtier to bully Leopard 2A4 and Abrams, good ass optical zoom and the APS also saved me several times from helicopter missiles and one time I believe missile launched by Jet. Note that all the T-80U variants have better armor than the late game T-80BVM.
