Seeing how the summer sale is “soon” I am thinking about buying the TURMS-T, since that’s what everyone buys for there 10.3 MBT for the Russian tech tree, however I don’t really see a lot of people talk about the T-80UD which is a premium tank at the same BR, and seeing how everyone calls the TURMS-T bad (in the forums atleast) would the T-80UD be better in general?

So which tank is better to buy? The TURMS-T or T-80UD, In terms of game performance.
T-80UD for battle rating 10.3 specifically or T-80U-E1 for USSR as a whole. For God’s sake don’t buy the T-72AV (Turms-T).
That higly depends on map id say.
TURMS is much better at fighting at range due to excellent thermals but it comes at price of having basically 72M1 hull with kontakt-1 which at 10.3 is not great, put simply.
UD is great at mid to close range where you dont need thermals that much, but you need to think about how youre gonna push since you aint reversing from a bad situation.
T80UD beats it in every single aspect except it doesn’t get thermals. There are so many good options at 10.3 for a lineup the t72 is really only considered for premium bonuses as a 3rd spawn after t80/2s38.
T80UE1 is probably the best premium Russia has BR for BR, but the problem is there isn’t a 2nd spawn that you can get that is also premium which you really want if you want to grind efficiently, I wouldn’t reccomend buying it until there is another 11.7 premium to go with it. You could get the 2s38 to go with it I guess but its starts getting a bit long in the tooth at that BR, but still works fine.
8.0 has the to-55+obj 120 which are good.
Do NOT buy the TURMS. it is a pile of junk. Go for the T-80UD or UE-1 if you plan on grinding high tier Russia. However, beware that high tier Russian tanks aren’t good.
Buy the T-80-UE1 instead.
Since the best CAS went up to BR 13.0 the 11.7 lineup has been so much more enjoyable. You also have the squad T-80UK and BMP-2M you can grind over time. If you want you can also buy the 2s38, Su-39 and Ka-50 premiums for a full lineup.
Also I find the 10.3 lineup will almost always uptier beacuse of all the premiums at 10.7 to 11.3
buy T-80UE-1
The T-80U-E1 is the way to Russia’s top tier, comrade.
If you need an SPAA/multipurpose, also buy the 2S38.
The T-80 in general is better. It’s got better mobility, better armor, only thing it’s missing is thermals, and if you have remotely any experience in game, that’s no issue.
The 2s38 vs 11.7 - 12.7 cas is crazy unless they’re like the average person who plays cas
That’s why the slash was added, it’s not a primary —nor only— role to accomplish with the 2S38 but its a better solution attempt than a single 50 cal mounted above an MBT.
I played a looot of russian 10.3 recently and it was practically always downtiered.
TURMS is good and imo its better than T80UD because thermals make a huge difference on many maps
no it doesnt, t80ud gets the same gun and the same shell
the only difference is hull and thermals
while t72 armor isnt the best its still better than what leopards 2a4 at 10.7 have to offer
TURMS ufp pretty much gets lolpenned by 10.7 darts, t80ud does not. T80UD has 250 more horsepower and the mobility is almost night and day difference, both have the same horrible 4km reverse tho. It has a faster reload and better gun handling around ~10-15%, better turret armor.
yes, the ufp can get penned by 10.7 darts its not consistent however because the chance is quite low
turms is a much better sniper which on current maps happens more often than close combat
so its all heavily map dependent which tank will be better but I would take turms anyways because of the thermals

T-80UD gets a 6.5s reload vs the TURMS’ 7.1.
The TURMS’ armor is worse than that of the 2A4. Its lolpenned by 9.3 darts.

Turret probably is better on 2A4 than on TURMS, but if it wasnt changed from last time i checked, 2A4 can be UFPed by 3BM22, which is 9.3 shell.
More important is, fit it your playstyle. If not even the strongest vehicle ingame become useless…

turret on turms is better than on 2a4, literally only place 2a4 can block shots with its turret is that one cheek without sights
while turms turret can be penned only on mantlet and roof, sides wont pen
also 2a4 has much weaker hull than turms
