I have noticed that the armour for the commander’s cupola for all 80s and the t64b have a duplicated 45mm armour layer below the external cupola model, the only difference being that the t80bmv second layer is 30mm isntead of 45mm.
I would be glad if someone could check it with the Nvidia ansel, as i mine doesnt work, i also suspect that the gunners hatch on the t80u turret also have a similar issue as they also have 90 mm of protection.
T-80U
Idk what this frontal part inside the T-80U’s cupola is, maybe it’s anti-radiation lining, idk. If it’s CHA then ig the value sorta matches.
The rear part (that actually opens) is however much thinner and definitely not 90mm mCHA.
Hard to tell if thats just a separator or extra armour, on the t80b hatch it seems to not be present, but it also has a different design, the rear it is for not 90mm
Okay so it turns out this second plate is just a leftover from when they modelled the cupola on T-80U.
Remember T-72 not having one?
Well, that was fixed.
and there is no second plate below.
And ofc on T-80 the upper part of the cupola should cover the entire hole, the lower part should have said hole.
With there not being another plate below.
Same goes for gunners hatch, where it’s correct on T-72A and M1 (didnt check the others so far) but has two plates on T-80U (likely unintentionally)
Ed.: T-72B3 still lacks the cupola…
That would explain why thi is this way
Seems like all t72b lacks it, the t90a does have them
Also can you check the gunners hatch for the t80u? it also shows two armour plates.
