T--55 "Al-Faw" – The Iraqi Enigma

An excellent squadron vehicle or tech tree for a Middle Eastern-themed tree. +1

nah man, it is just a T-55 with extra T-80 armor strap on it, looks like a T-80 from wich.com. But still, i want to see it in the game

Came across a photo of the Al-Faw variant featuring cool headlights, interesting camo and a set of smoke launchers.

This looks like a great vehicle to play, maybe around 9.0-9.3?

It sounds like it will be hell to fight with stock HEATFS. I am curious how much protection the armor does provide against kinetic pentrators

It is said that the tank managed to survive a MILAN.

I was just watching a video from the bovington tank museum on T-55s and they brought up this variant, even showed the inside of the NERA. According to them (though they provided no source) it would stop anything short of a hellfire missile (when it came to chemical munitions at least)

Likely true, as the Russian study clearly demonstrated that you don’t need explosives to yield effectiveness from reactive armour.

Still waiting for this tank and gaijin didn’t respond what if they know about t-55 with 170mm koksan artillery cannon or the rhino g6 tank with 210mm cannon ( they only made 2 but didn’t see a battle only in storage) Iraqi engineers crazy

Btw it’s not a Rhino G6 but a Czechoslovak vehicle.

My friend search for it they bought g6 from South Africa and modified the cannon and replaced it with 210mm you can search that

The Iraqis couldn’t afford the G6 so they contacted the Czechs to purchase a chassis that was then modified to G6 specifications. This is on most sources for this vehicle, even the wiki says it.

Oh yeah I searched and saw based on Czechoslovakian chassis also majnoon is similar to the regular g6

It does not carry ammunition on its own and requires trucks to follow it (I may be wrong). And I doubt it can be used against tanks. It’s simply too big and bulky for such roles.

Don’t forget that it requires a stationary position or the shot won’t be accurate… I wish there’s is more documents about the Iraqi - Iranian war and 1991 war I’m still researching about documents and don’t worry I’ll not leak anything in the forum lol…

yes

The 1973 variant (M1978) carries 2 rounds on board. The 1983 variant (M1989), which Iraq didn’t operate, carries 12. I’m not sure if the domestic Iraqi variant, with the 180mm on the BLG-60 chassis could carry any ammunition on board, but even if it could, no way it’s suitable for the game.

+1 for this vehicle though, very neat
