T-44MS (1964): Updating the outdated

ngl I find it easy to kill

100% this belongs in the game, either as a premium or foldered with the T-44-100.

The MS is arguably the ultimate variant of T-44, I think it should be given access to the HEAT round but it should be 7.3, definitely not under 7.0. If it didn’t get the HEAT round it definitely belongs at 7.0

It would be quite mobile with the upgraded T-54 drivetrain and it would be stabilized, it definitely would be a beast and provide a significantly different gameplay experience compared to most of the USSR lineup at this BR.

If given HEAT-FS it would probably be way closer to 8.0 as it would have a bit worse forward speed with way worse reverse speed in comparison to Object 906 but with way better armour. Furthermore the HEAT-FS round would be very similar in performance given that it would be the same as on the Type 62.
So in my opinion it would be more interesting to play a stabilised medium at 7.0 with great mobility, good to very good armor but with a weak gun rather than another HEAT slinging “light” tank around 8.0.

I dont think that would matter with all the heat slinging speedies around lol. Imo if equipped with heat it will belong to 7.3. Low response speed of 15 deg max of horizontal traverse and medium tank mobility will not allow for it to compete with 8.0 tanks.

Giving it HEAT would make it more unique and set it apart from the standard T-44. But could it use HEAT-rounds?

Agreed. The 906 is faster and has nearly twice the fire rate, one of its biggest advantages.
7.3 compared favourably to the M46 (largely similar except stabilizer). At most it’d be 7.7, 8.0 puts it only .3 below T-55A, M60A1 AOS, and other excellent MBTs.

I haven’t found proof, but according to @RedSunrise it could. It seems he has found some info on the heatfs.

Its attributes look unique enough for gaijin to put it up as a premium, it has HEATFS and two planes stab? Most likely going to be more viable than the T-54s, so very likely a 8.0.

I’m awaiting/anticipating it eagerly! :)

I dunno about that. Looking at other USSR 85mm HEAT-rounds they have 300mm of pen, which is good, but not really 8.0-good, if you understand me. My thinking is that, it is then gonna encounter 9.0 vehicles at times which have access to ERA, forcing you to fall back onto its KE-rounds which are mediocre at that tier. Armor is also generally better at that point which are gonna eat up a lot of the HEAT-round’s post-pen capability.

But slightly lower than that? At maybe 7.3-7.7? That would escape a lot of these problems while still being balanced. But that’s just my opinion. Gaijin does what gaijin does regardless.

I’m not sure if anyone has mentioned this, but back in the distant days of 2015, Gaijin actually created a 4-part series documenting the restoration of this t-44m. While the videos are a bit dated in terms of quality, I’ve always been surprised that the tank never made it into the game afterward, especially considering how aware Gaijin was of its existence.

The first thing I look at is how bad is the 7.7 M48, I would imagine having stab will easily perform better than the M48 given the fact that the T-44 platform isn’t bad.

It is beyond mediocre, it is sub-par. Br365 with 135mm pen point black, and Br367bwith 167mm pen point black wont cut it at 8.0, let alone 9.0 …
