Hello all, I come forth to you today with a simple question, how does the T-34-85 play? For context, I minor Swedish low tier ground, and I have recently have achieved a personal kill record per match of 14 in the Finnish T-34, which is at 4.0. However, I’m close to beginning my research for the T-34-85, and since it sits at a higher BR of 5.7, I want to know how does it play. Is it a glass cannon? A brawler? Or something else.
Not good, not bad, in between. As for all T-34-85s you have a somewhat good cannon. It’s the generic medium tank you have a good cannon for rather good-ish armor values, mobility is key in the T-34-85, in summary a glass cannon (I mean you can apply this to any vehicle literally never rely on armor), you don’t want to take the frontline. You get a 85 mm cannon instead of the 76 mm one, at battle rating 5.7 you’ll need good line-up for the constant uptiering to battle rating 6.7 matches.

HOWEVER it is important to note that it plays differently from the t34/76 family as it has MUCH LOWER “relative” armor…relative when compared to opposition at similar BR. While the 76mm versions often survive shots, the 85mm version dies much easier. The 85mm sometimes “feels” more mobile, but again it is a relative feeling…it is much more mobile than the similar equipped (85mm) russian vehicles…
SO…the 85mm should move more and avoid being hit…while the 76mm versions can risk a bit…

There is a strange “feeling” when you play with t34/85s…the ones being used by the enemy seem tougher, while ours feel frail…usual war thunder perspective issue, a bit coumpouded by the odd ricochets when firing at t34s, that we often don’t realize while playing inside them…
