T-34-88 (k20)

Honeslty I think the T-34-88 would be just mid, it’s the same barrel as the 85 but tinner, so the shell will have to be less fast to not blow the barrel, so it would litterlay just be a T-34-85, with a PzGr. shell.
And it’s not the same as prototypes, this one have almost no documentaion about it but maybe 2 picture and it’s name wrtitten once.
And it is not like any captured tanks in-game, since this one wasn’t widely used (and in combat) or like the Kv-1 from germany that had to have a complete turret rework to put a complete breech+canon of the German 75mm. And honeslty, germany have already way too much premium tanks around there.

Its the only nation with that much premium in 4.0-8.0.

Maybe Russia have that much ?

And seeing panzer with other turrets or other frankestein tanks, but this one is just not, it still have the D-5T barrel with a couple milimeter cut with the nearby boat factory tools, and maybe -we still don’t even know how it was looking- a muzzle brake.

Aye, which honestly makes it a nice idea for a premium/event/BP tank. Something that’s not too strong but not too weak, and something that’s unique enough to interest people.

There are a few prototypes that have been suggested that are like that. If you want to go down a real rabbit hole, look up the Durchbruchswagen, where we legit have only the testing reports and a picture of a road wheel as proof it existed. Another similar one in-game is the Mobelwagen with the quad 30s. Gaijin says it’s a Zerstörer 45 proto, but Doyle says it’s a test mule with the Quad 30s mounted on it, but there aren’t any photos of it. There’s also the Ostwind II, which we don’t have photos of (less said about that, the better, though).

Yeah, Germany is really premium-heavy, and it’ll likely keep growing. Especially in the WWII era since there’s dozens os options there.

Well if we start to add any captured tanks or prototypes that were just paper with a roadwheel, War Thunder would be a mayem of preium, and if it’s not already the case just more captured tanks than German tanks is pointless.
And you said it yourself, they are not even in)game, proof that they don’t have a place there.

Captured modfied tanks what are mostly what Germany has (par the Churchill) are unique variets

Vichy France would be good to see in some capacity. Maybe a better way to deal with all the french-german abomination vehicles. Also tbh I’d just like to see them in the axis team in sim for rank 2-3

Vichy France never had tanks apart from secret r35s and whatever nothing exactly good and all the french German creature’s are just German. That’s the only place they should go

Well, granted, the Quad 30 test mule is in-game. As is the Ostwind II as well. It’s not even a matter of them not having a place tbh, because frankly there’s still a massive gap between the Panzer IIIs and the Tiger Is that needs to be filled. Just another thing Gaijin has yet to get around to doing

Isn’t even proven to be real we have 1 drawing from the era it’s actually faker then anything else currently in game

It’s not really the same, those are prototypes that were partially built,
not a one-off improvised field modification that wasn’t used.

Ostwind II is way more existant than a drawing, there was a prototype at the end of January 1945, but didn’t got the time to reach production.
And the Zestorer was also a prototype bulit, sent in the same time with the Ostwind II to the training center at Ohrdruf, in Thuringia.
Sadly there are no or close to pictures of it, and it lacks of documentation; we don’t know if the prototype was fully fonctionnal.

Please prove that. We have no photos of it no real documents of it but 1 drawing what was likely impossible to make

That’s pretty much all speculation there’s no real proof of that. The Ostwind 2 should of never been added due to lack of information I doubt there was even a prototype

Mr. Francev (Kořistní zbrojněná vozidla ve výzbroji čs. The Army (Part 3)) states that in the VTV (Tank Troop Command) report of October 1947, among the German equipment collected throughout the country, there was an anti-aircraft tank with a twin 3.7 cm gun on a Pz.Kpfw. IV platform.

Given that production at the German Deutsche Eisenwerke AG-Werk Stahindustrie was moved from Duisburg to a subsidiary in Teplice at the end of the war,
it is possible that the hypothetical Ostwind II prototype also made its way to Czech territory.

Edit: I’m trying to find the last doc, but if it is not lost in time it is somewhere, but since I din’t speak tchec it’s hard

Highly unlikely that’s either misidentification or just false reports post war (what were common)

Id say that’s less likely to of happened then anything else during the war lmao
Plus the documents above just go off speculation there’s 0 actual proof of the Ostwind 2 ever being made and even if it was the gun configuration as it is would be impossible due to lack of space and it being physically impossible to reload the guns also take into account how few of the Zwilling varients were made (less then 400) and pretty much all of them using top and bottom mounts and not side by side what no photos iirc of side by side mounts exist. Leads me and many others just to believe it to be fake the flakpanzer 341 has more knowns then Ostwind 2

That’s assuming they could make a prototype in and present it for documentation in about 4 months and that’s assuming they had all the equipment there and staffing and materials really unlikely imo and taking into account they built like 40 Ostwind and it took them like 6-8 months to develop and produce a prototype I don’t see a chance they moved everything and made a functional prototype in 4 months maybe a wooden mock up

yes there is, just gave them to you before.

The double barrel was at first vertical in the current use, but with the capability to put it vertical, it was possbile to load and put poeple on the sides.
“What is somewhat unusual is that this gun was not placed in its original configuration, but instead side by side, with some 30 cm distance between the two barrels. This is odd, as it would have been much easier to just install the gun as it was into the Ostwind II turret. The most obvious reason for this kind of installation was reducing the overall height. With such an over-and-under configuration, in order to load the upper gun, the loader would have to stand up, which would expose him to enemy fire. In addition, with a height of nearly 3 m, the Ostwind’s weakly armored turret was too exposed to enemy fire. Raising the turret height would only increase the chances of being hit by enemy fire. Another reason would have been the difficulty of putting two loaders on the same side in the relatively cramped turret.”

The double 37mm was already use in coastal defenses, and as you can see, both magazines are on the same side when it is vertical.

just… no ?

The production timeline argument is also weaker than it appears. The vehicle does not need to have been mass-produced, or even officially accepted. A single prototype, pilot vehicle, workshop conversion, or partially completed pre-production vehicle would be enough to explain the report. German industry in 1944–45 produced numerous experimental and one-off armored vehicles that are far less documented than mainstream designs. Many late-war German prototypes are known from only a handful of references, and some are documented solely through post-war reports. Absence of evidence is not evidence of absence, especially when dealing with equipment located in territories that ended up behind the Iron Curtain.

Thats not actually evidence lmao I mean official documents not just believes and eye witnesses

That’s not what the Ostwind 2 used it is…

Flakpanzer 341 had a full mock up with a turret that could rotate Ostwind 2 had what? A gun configuration that would be impossible no real documents of it being real and existing with all evidence being from sketchy post war accounts and eye witnesses what are incredibly untrustworthy

VTV stands for:
Velitelství tankového vojska
(Tank Troops Command or Armoured Troops Command)
So yes, unless you want a letter from Hitler himself signed and with a video selfie with 3 fingers infront of his head, it is official, produced by the Czechoslovak Tank Troops Command.
This makes it a primary source, comtemporary, and by a qualified person.

that’s what I said. It was vertical at first, in the coastal defenses, and then for the Ostwind they decided to put it horizontaly, as I said.

Just look at the picture and you’ll understand.

It was far more advanced than a wooden mockup. since a prototype was built and sent to trails.

Edit: If I’m not clear, I use the source used by tank encyclopedia and wikipedia: the VTV (Tank Troop Command) report of October 1947.

It’s one of those situations where it depends on who you ask.

I reached out to Hillary Doyle some time ago to ask him about the Ostwind II/Zestorer 45. He said, according to the Ostbau Papers in his possession, neither vehicle reached the prototype stage. He pointed out that the Ostwind II would have required a much larger turret (the one in-game is actually too small), something that, by January 1945, German industry was completely incapable of producing due to the effectiveness of the Allied Bombing Campaign. As far as the 45 goes, he said it only ever reached the test-mule Mobelwagen trials.

That said, I really don’t care that the II is in-game. I’ve long been of the opinion that War Thunder is a game at the end of the day, so if a vehicle wasn’t built IRL but had finalized plans and/or enough info to model it, go right ahead and add it. There’s really no logical reason not to add something to a video game because it wasn’t built. Just as long as we don’t start inventing our own tanks, as a certain other game does.
