Here is a better T-34-85M1 picture I forgot to add, really only good picture I could find of the tank from the front
Updated ammo again to represent 85×629mmR.
Here is a list of each ammo shell in Polish service as well as some information on 85mm guns in LWP service:

These are all the early ammuntion variants, the 365 series of shells. You can see these all ingame on T-34-85s.

These are the late war ammos called 367 series of rounds. You can sees these on T-44s ingame, but they can still be fired on T-34-85 as its the exact same gun and cartridge. In many countries BR-367 was used on T-34-85s. (Sorry for the awkward image display), top from bottom: BR-367(A), BR-367P, O-367A.
The last round for the 85×629mmR caliber (at least in Polish service) is the 3BK-2 and 3BK-2M HEAT-FS rounds. 3BK-2 uses a steel heat stream and 2M uses a slightly better copper heat stream. This round surprisingly isnt in warthunder, with the closest thing being the Chinese Type 56 HEAT-FS (which is actually a native shell unlike most other Type 56 ammuntion).
All in all: T-34-85M2 could basically be like a Polish counterpart to ingame Japanese Type 61.
You have just confirmed what exact HEAT rounds post-WW2 T-34-85s used. Thank you. I’ll add that to my suggestions.
Also could you please give some viable sources?
Its pretty difficult, there are many secondary sources that confirm this. Ive been trying to find a document of purchase for 3BK-2 or a reference to it in a manual.
Poland used and modernized 85mm field guns until 1989, so if I could find a D-44 manual from Polish service it could confirm HEAT use.
As for BR-367 and BR-365 there are plenty of sources and I mean they were used since WW2.
Found by @Colerend and shows a possible APDS for the 85mm developed by WITU
Going to replace this for 3BK-2M as right now there isn’t enough proof for it. Also this would be better than 3BK-2M in theory as it would spall more
As we don’t know the round name I’m just going to call it WITU Wz. 62 APDS
this would be cool as we could see early east german tanks like T34-85 or late IS2M +1 wish we got more ww2 stuff
Lol this T-34-85 is actually from the 1950’s
acting like it aint sharing majority of its design with the WW2 era T34 its early post war
Does, but it’s funny that these were produced and used a while after WW2
i do agree its rather funny i believe a chinese one gets a dart round
Poland started license building in 1953 based on T-34-85 M1945.
These upgrades are from the late 50s and early 60s, but the tank were supported until the 80s.
The service upgrades T-34-85M1 and M2 actually could have been a lot better with stabilizer, better engine, rangefinder, etc.
Unfortunately as goes in the government at the time it was cancelled and the upgrade that was fielded was okay but not the best. There could be added a T-34-85 with SC-314 stabilizer (similar to the one coming this update) or one with STP-1 stabilizer the same as T-54A, which would be a lot better
Hello everyone, I have gained access to the T-34-85M manual from the help of @THEPolishThunder , this brought a few changes to my suggestion.
First of all, it seems that the manual is based off primarily the M1946 variant T-34, even though I have yet to see confirmation that Poland actually used this version of tank. Still it will give some improvements to the tank.
Changes:
W-2-34 → W-2-34M (the manual states the tank uses W-2-34M, but only says it has 500hp. I put down 520hp because the engine was capable of producing this).
3.5x-7x zoom → 4/5x zoom (manual states 4x zoom with sight TSz-16, the TWN-1a has 5x zoom but it would be a stretch to make it the gun zoom.)
Added 2x BDSz smoke grenades. (There are already pictures with this in the thread, I just forgot to put them in the suggestion. Either way the manual confirms it)
Lastly on the topic of ammunition, the manual only mentions the BR-365 series. I will still be leaving in BR-367 rounds and the prototype Wz.62 APDS because the cannon was able to fire them, and obviously the prototype round wouldn’t be included in the manual. Also for gaijin, their policy is if it could use it, it could be added for balance.
I will keep reading through the manual, but those are the main changes and the rest was pretty much confirming what I already had. If anyone finds anymore information please share here, and additionally if anyone can find “Instrukcji wojsk pancernych i zmechanizowanych — 85 mm armata czołgowa wz. 1944 r. — Opis i utrzymanie” Panc. 93/55 it would be very helpful to find more information about the gun and ammunition.
It’s hard to tell, but because it was really the only anti tank gun used in LWP it should be the D-44.
Also the carriage only has one wheel, and the only other anti tank gun (BS-3) had double wheels on each side
Few updates:
-
W-2-34M 520hp → W-2-34M 500hp
- The Polish W-2-34M seems to be different than the Soviet V-2-34M. The manual states 500hp at 1800 rpm, whilst the Soviet version is 520hp at 2000 rpm. This could be a similar thing to the CV 12-9A engine where it is technically 1300hp, but could easily be uprated to 1500hp. The T-34-85M2 modification saw many improvements to the engine, which could in turn possibly see it uprated to 520hp, though I would need to do a lot more research to confirm this
-
Turret rotation = 30°/sec. The manual states maximum turret rotation with the eletric motor goes from 20-30°/sec. So I obviously put down 30°/sec as it could do that. This is a decent improvement from the Soviet (and all other T-34-85s ingame) which can only do 25°/sec.

Also removed T-34-76 M1943 from being in LWP service as I don’t think it was actually in service, just the M1942 (though they are both very similiar)
All in all, I think that this could still be at 6.3 as it is basically an improved T-34-85 (STP), but without the stabilizer. To compensate for the stabilizer you have all the technical improvements and then the ability to fire APDS
Added commander gun override as stated in a CIA document about Polish production T-34-85s.
This is the same document about the T-34-100 in Polish service, and whilst I am taking that with a grain of salt the rest of the document is generally pretty accurate.
I also believe most later model T-34-85s had commander override anyway. This is for the license production 1953 T-34-85s, but still would obviously be present in the modernized variants.
Lastly, when I have time pretty soon I’m going to do a suggestion for T-34-85M1 and the Polish license production T-34-85 (maybe if I have time I’ll do the ones we used in WW2 but that’s not all too interesting as it’s just Soviet production)
that reminds me, I remember something about our T-34-85’s being tested with a stabaliser, do you know something about this or am I just making stuff up?
We made a domestic stabilizer SC-314 and also tried the STP-1 (T-54/D-10TS stabilizer).
I have never found any pictures and they both were cancelled because it was too expensive and didn’t work well enough
