issue with the 152 mm cannon is how they will fit an autoloader in the T-14, it needs a whole new turret and a new ammo carousel, also 2A83 its pretty darn heavy + it would need a bigger turret to fit the bigger gun, 2A82 its still a 125 mm but with higher pressure

tbf Abrams X its a tech demonstrator so its working just that probably it dosent have any armor and only has systems mounted so they can see all the new tech
also KF51 its completely functional too its not that hard specially since rheinmetall already has an autoloader patent and everything else was ready from beforehand

The problem with Amrat was never that it exceeded the development budget or that they didn’t have the technology, it was a lot of things connected to each other.
The real reasons for the incomplete implementation of Armata:
1, Engine arranged in X (the engine had serious mechanical problems which apparently managed to be solved)
2, the Armata was never planned to enter service with a 125mm gun but with a 152mm gun
3, Problematic stabilization of the 152mm gun
4, There were two factions in the Russian government that were unable to agree, one was for the Armata the other for the T90 M

It is announced by Telekanal Zvezda ( Russian MoD official channel ). Summary of the news :

152mm smoothbore chrome plated canon ( this was from the getgo intended to be Armata gun ).

New fire control system ( likely new optics aswell ). In combination with the 152mm it will allow it to effectively guide Kornet missiles ( or derivate ) up to 10km .

New APFSDS with length higher than 1m .

It will be able to function as SPG , in principle this is not new since T-72/80/90 modernizations already perform SPG duty in the current conflict. The difference here is that the 152mm canon will allow it to fire guided artillery shells like the Krasnopol.

It will have onboard drones which will assist with reconnaissance and targeting of said guided shells .
Likely it will also have updated APS with the integration of Arena-M component to the existing Afghanit in order counter drone threats . In essence it’s what T-14 was supposed to be from the getgo. This brings it back to Obj.195 standard which the T-14 is derived from .

Imho such a system has no place in current conflicts. Waste of ressources. I doubt its a real announcemnt. Might be just propaganda or desinformation. Irl possibly just another prototype project which never really materializes.
Well the announcement is real. Now whether such configuration ( 152mm etc ) of the Armata will be mass produced or will entirely replace the 125mm version (some talk about a mixed usage of 125mm and 152mm variants) , it’s another topic , only time will tell.
As for it’s place in the current conflict there are different point to be considered :

On a technical point of view, as stated above , MBTs performing partial SPG duty in the current conflict is already a reality so in that sense the future Armata will comply just fine with battlefield realities.

On an economic point of view on the other hand, yes i have to agree it would be a waste of resources to throw an Armata in there when cheaper solutions ( T-72/80/90 modernisations ) exist. That is the primary reason the Armata has not been engaged in the current conflict.
That being said T-72/80/90 have reached the end of their modernisation potential ( last stop was the integration of hard kill APS ) so sooner rather than later Russian MoD will have to rely on the Armata platform, not necessarily for the current conflict but for what comes after that, that’s for sure. Thus in that reagard, in my humble opinion it makes no sense to doubt that the project will materialize .
