Swedish Navy Tech Tree

Other opinions are always appreciated. I’m still tweaking things occationally (which you can see by the number of edits…) and Gaijin will inevitably make changes to the tree layout anyhow :)

That is indeed true, and if this did ever get added, it would have to be it’s own major update, which of course 90% of the payer base would hate and screech about, so this is probably one of those need content during down time of the year things, sadly :/

never knew sweden had such big navy lol, also something i saw no one mention, in the english dev stream you can see that there was swedish navy, tho its not available yet on the devserver

wait wut, at what time?

got suspicious of myself and checked the stream again, apparently i’m schizofrenic because there was no swedish navy, maybe i confused with the new french ship

Don’t give me false hope like that lol. Although recently the first suggestion that would be relevant to this tree was passed to devs, namely the Finnish frigate Hämeenmaa (Project 50 Frigate, Hämeenmaa (02) - Finlandized Frigate). And yeah it’s pretty sizable, especially for coastal where you could still add plenty more variants than I’ve included and there are still some more variants for bluewater. I did an update with about fourteen new vessels just the other day actually, especially focused on increasing the variety of the coastal defence ships

sorry for giving you false hopes, got schizoid and genuinely believed there would be swedish navy in the game

Those were Italian project, just because they were proposed to sweden once that doesn’t theyr place is in this hypotetical tt. They weren’t made for sweden in the specific and they were never ordered by the swedish navy. If they would be ever implemented, theyr place is in the Italian tt.

I will only say yes when the proposed/paper ships are removed.

The U.P. 102 and Ansaldo coastal defence ship designs were indeed both designed by an Italian yard but they were not just proposed to Sweden, they had been ordered by and created in cooperation with the Swedish Navy in 1941. Now the U.P. 102 offered to Sweden was a modified version of a prior Ansaldo design also offered to other countries, but it was still tailor made in this configuration for Sweden with Swedish input. Afaik the U.P. 102 was never intended for the Italian Navy and if it had bee, it would certainly not have been in the configuration proposed for Sweden. The same goes for the coastal defence ship design which to my knowledge was specifically designed for Sweden. The design of the Tre Kronor-class was ultimately also based on work done by the Italian company CRDA but can certainly be considered a Swedish cruiser

As explained in the section on paper ships, these are only included due to Gaijin’s previous statement on greater openness for paper designs for naval. This suggestion may serve to show the diversity and types of vessels that could potentially be added for Sweden, but it is neither a comprehensive list of every candidate nor a list of ships that necessarily have to be added. When/if added, the Swedish Navy would undoubtedly be introduced in whatever form Gaijin deems suitable irrespective of the particular design of this suggestion

Those ships were never commisioned and never constructed.

Probably they would have different weapons, and all the project made by Ansaldo of those times were always proposed to Regia Marina.

How so?
Does sweden ever projected it? nope
Does sweden ever commisioned it or operated it? nope

Well, then for me it’s a yes but also if they are added to the nation that designed them.

Both the designs proposed to Sweden were still provided under Swedish supervision and advice, that’s especially true of the coastal defence ship which to my knowledge was not based on any prior Ansaldo design. It’s very possible that the RM inspected them, but to my knowledge the U.P. 102 was specifically created as an export cruiser. If it was to be added, I don’t see why Italy would have it for any more reason than Sweden, especially considering that it appears to have been intended to use non-Italian weaponry. I suppose a good compromise could be to provide Italy with the U.P. 102 proposed to Romania and to give Sweden the one intended for Sweden. I think you must have misunderstood me in regards to that last sentence, the Tre Kronor-class which was built in Sweden based on designs by CRDO and spent many years in Swedish service

Yeah, I don’t mind paper ships.
In fact I support this tree, but I think the U.P. 102 should also go to Italy.
Not necessarily under Romanian flag, given that Ansaldo was nationalized, and basically a branch of the design office of the Navy. As others were saying, either a project was offered to the Regia Marina or the export design was based on a design for the RM.
Like the U.P. 41 which was based on a design for a 42,000 ton ship for the RM.

Pretty much same. Strap it to one of the early Italian destroyers and you can pretend that you have a Psilander-class…
