Sweden CAS

When Sweden will get good CAS? (I am greatful for the F-16AM ofc) but i am wondering if Sweden will actually get good Helis/AGMs for CAS as i believe got some good CAS

more likely than not, swedish heli TT is dead in the water.

Sweden wont get anything more withwise to helis at top tier at the moment. Slim hope maybe a Danish Naval Blackhawk that could maybe get JAGMs, but its a stretch.

Their best hope on that front at the moment though is for Sweden or Finland to buy attack helicopters in light of the current geopolitical situation in the region.

As for fixed wing CAS?

Gripen NG would be the next logical step for top tier, but god knows when that is actually going to be added

Not that I’m aware of. Gaijin could rely on adding a ‘placeholder’ vehicle to the tech tree to fill this gap, just like they did with finnish ItO 90M in the french tech tree. Given that South Korea is somewhat part of the Swedish tech tree with the K9 Thunder aka VIdAr, it isn’t something out of scope and not that much unrealistic, which in this case would be AH-64E (again).

I beg your pardon?

no no no, i understand that.

Im just trying to collect myself after that mental flashbang of reading

K9 Thunder is a South Korean-origin vehicle, which is redesignated as Versatile Indirect Artillery in Norwegian service, which is in-game as VIdAr, I said specifically “[…] somewhat part of […]” because of this fact, meaning it’s part of because of one vehicle but it isn’t entirely.

Which is why, even though is way too much, South Korean AH-64E could be as a placeholder or permanent vehicle to put Sweden tech tree in pair with others that did recieved equal or better vehicle.

yeah but isn’t VIDAR was sold to Norway? tho does Norway/Finland/Denmark got any jets or helis that could fit in?

You dont have to repeat that part, im well aware VIDAR is K9.

By your logic, South Africa is part of the german TT.

Sweden is part of UK TT

Israel is part of the US TT

Germany is part of the US TT

What I am hinting at, with all due respect, that this might be the most insane take ive seen in the past month, and its not even a competition.

Norway isnt original manufacturer of K9, and VIDARs arent even manufactured in Norway as far as I can tell.

You are turning what is already a well estabilished logic for subtrees around.

If country isnt present as a subtree, vehicle goes to manufacturer country (F-14 IRIAF being the most obvious example). You are now saying that since subtree uses a vehicle purchased from foreign manufacturer, they can now claim country of that manufacturer as a subtree.

Not to mention Korea more likely than not will be a standalone.

If anything, the future united korea TT that was hinted in last dev response has stronger claim for Norway as a subtree precisely due to VIDAR.

Which I agree and presumed such when I said "[…] out of scope […]" meaning I was aware of this. Given that the nordic nations including Sweden has little selection of helicopters for attack purposes and most of them are short range, which the AHS is offering in game now, this is by far the, in my perspective, most reliable scenario, even knowing South Korea is planned for get its own tech tree alongside with North Korea and knowing that Gaijin don’t work with vehicles like that anymore as you made example of the german F-4F in the USA tech tree, Goliath in the german tech tree and so on.

As @Morvran made example, Gripen NG or JAS 39E Gripen is the best and more senseful suggestion to fill this role, although it won’t offer much given that it’s the same-same from JAS 39C that it’s in game. My best hopes is the Brazilian JAS 39E that is equipped with israeli Spice bombs.

Short term, it would mean the Gripen could run full A2G whilst still having half decent A2A bringing it on par with most other top tier multiroles.

Long term, it has Brimstones

I wont dwell on it further then.

Well yes, but as I said, SK in Sweden puts the already estabilished logic for claiming subtrees on its head and would frankly open can of worms of biblical proportions.

which is simply why it wont work.

the most likely scenario is that sweden will remain without heliborne FnF missiles until one of the nordic countries decides to purchase attack helicopters.

Just add more F16’s lol, Danish F16AM pls snail i just want my home nation
