Hi there, I’m currently writing an article about the VL Myrsky for the WT Wikipedia and as I like to use historical photos on my projects, I was wondering what the official stance of this platform is related to showing swastikas on historical photos as the old FAF roundel is a blue swastika.
Are they allowed or should I blur them out?
I tried to find information related to this question here in the forums but couldn’t find a clear answer anywhere, so I figured to ask myself.
If someone smarter knows an answer for this, I would highly appreciate it.
I don’t think using historical pictures with swastikas, at least not with a swastika each square meter or is completely out of context, is forbidden, but you should ask directly to the Wiki Staff when you apply your article for review.

Will do, hopefully you’re correct though as I personally find it unpleasant that history can’t be shown as is. Especially the fact that some WT players actually think the old FAF roundel is a massive plus sign as shown ingame :p
Thanks for the reply.

Just a heads up, wome mods may instantly ban you for a month, its happened to me trying to do a similar thing, i even stated i didn’t want the hikaristi to be the focus and it was just there because its a historical image, the mod didn’t read my post and i had to ask Smin to unban me so id just be careful.
Ended up just covering them with my Type 87 RCV
All symbols should be covered up or hidden from pictures.

- images and names of famous state, civilian and military leaders of the countries of the fascist / Nazi bloc;
- images of awards of the countries of the fascist / Nazi bloc, part of which is the swastika and other signs prohibited by the applicable law;
- the uniform of the armies of the Fascist / Nazi bloc, Nazi volumes of greetings, and portraits of criminals convicted and not rehabilitated, including drawings and cartoons;
- any other attributes/symbols of Nazi Germany and fascist Italy and other extremist or terrorist organizations;
- banners, flags, badges, armbands, uniform attributes, greetings, passwords, musical works, household items, and other objects and objects representing themselves in any form of symbolism used by the National Socialist Labor Party of Germany and the Fascist Party of Italy, and any other extremist and nationalist organizations.
3.1.7 all manifestations of Nazism and racist statements, any Nazi symbols (as stated in paragraph 2.9 of these Guidelines);
Whilst it is the wiki you’re talking about the rules still apply, As it references the game and is a direct link to the game for many users and information.
This is a game after all, and while it is interesting to know the background of some vehicles. There should be no link between WT and it’s official pages, To certain symbols.

So is my above images okay then? I figure they were since i didn’t get banned for them on the bug report this time around lol
I would assume so yes since it’s not showing anything going from those statements.
However if you’re ever unsure about posting the pictures on forums/bug report site or wiki just message the respective teams and they’ll tell you, if it’s fine to publish.
