I mean the US also used MiG’s during the Cold war but I don’t want those either.
With US military aviation having such a rich and plentiful history, is it really necessary to add Spitfires?

As a British main, I always thought that was quite a shame. :P
especially when I saw plenty of US players trying dogfight in Thunderbolts or Hellcats and burnt by Yak, Spitfire or Zeros.
With some jokes, what if they were armed in Spitfire instead…? XD

Yeah I kind of wish there were better dogfighters. But in the end, the focus on speed left us with better looking aircraft :P
Yeah, the MiGs are stretching things a bit. Though it is interesting to note that the US is still among the largest operators of the MiG-21, for example.

So then it becomes copy paste which, unnecessary copy paste at that. America has plenty of excellent aircraft as it is. It does not need to dip into foreign designs that it used. Only time where I can that would be if WT ever expanded to WW1, and even then, there are probably a number of inter-war designs that can be used instead.
Problem is, the US doesn’t need a turnfighter, not to the point where dipping into foreign designs is necessary anyway. US should never have had the A6M2 -or any of the other Japanese planes- anyway.

You know this aircraft isn’t in game, right? It will not be a completely copy paste because it will get less powerful engine as opposed to RAF operated Mk VIIIs with more powerful Merlin 66.
US tree lacks dedicated turnfighters at 4.X to 5.0, and this proposal will fill the requirement perfectly.
I’m actually supportive of UK tree to get more American lend lease stuff.
US only got a tiny fraction of reverse lend leases in service compared to UK and Soviet Union. There’s no real reason why it should not get more reverse lend leases in US tree.

well there isnt a mk8 in game yet and its a very powerful merlin without having to use the fake LF mkIX in the US tree
America doesnt have any good turnfighters so this is the best choice, however it wont save the tree from the bad pilots

What? Were you really saying you want to deny the addition for UK tree? Seriously?
Mk VIII was one of most significant Spitfire models missing in the game. It’s iconic in Commonwealth service where it saw more actions overseas and in Italy.
To deny it is denying its significant role in WW2.
Oh and, it’s not 100% identical to Mk IX in terms of flight performance. So, there is more than one reason to argue for its addition in the game. Its addition doesn’t provide negative impact, and instead it provides positive impact.

“Copy Paste” when we don’t even have it yet. The Mk.VIII was specialised for high altitude interceptions and engagements. Before we result to “copy and paste slop” PLEASE do your research…

in some ways it would be worse as it has smaller ailerons but also other benefits over a mkV such as less drag from a retracting tail wheel.

I know, yet its not worth adding as brings literal zero purpose being a worse performing copy of existing ingame model of LF 9.

Its a copypaste machine.
Its not my fault that battles of top tier aviation last 3 minutes. That being said this plane is one and only option on that tree for a dogfight AND attacker to use with Type 90. Other planes are as much copypaste slop so game just does not give a choice. Id be rather happy to use anything beside it if added AND not copypaste.
US on the other hand HAS options on that BR. And Britain also does.
I deny addition of this anywhere. It does not bring anything new to the game. It uses same model as ingame plane with a bit changed statcard. Which is as slop as copypaste T-72M.
Yet it will use same model as ingame LF9 model or the early Merlin model. Yet only difference is statcard numbers.
