With US military aviation having such a rich and plentiful history, is it really necessary to add Spitfires?

As a British main, I always thought that was quite a shame. :P
especially when I saw plenty of US players trying dogfight in Thunderbolts or Hellcats and burnt by Yak, Spitfire or Zeros.

With some jokes, what if they were armed in Spitfire instead…? XD

Yeah I kind of wish there were better dogfighters. But in the end, the focus on speed left us with better looking aircraft :P

Yeah, the MiGs are stretching things a bit. Though it is interesting to note that the US is still among the largest operators of the MiG-21, for example.

Ok, and I never actually said that in my suggestion. But since we’re talking, here’s my take: Ideally, Gaijin should add this version to the British tree first. Better yet, why not add it to both the US and UK trees in one same patch? Everyone wins. No effort is required to do this if the model is already made.

So then it becomes copy paste which, unnecessary copy paste at that. America has plenty of excellent aircraft as it is. It does not need to dip into foreign designs that it used. Only time where I can that would be if WT ever expanded to WW1, and even then, there are probably a number of inter-war designs that can be used instead.

But here’s the thing: the American A6M2 got removed from the US tree and isn’t available for new players anymore. Sure, it might come back once a year as some overpriced premium. That’s exactly why the Mk V models would make perfect replacements - they actually have extensive US combat records in the Mediterranean theater. They are making more sense than the A6M2, anyway.

Problem is, the US doesn’t need a turnfighter, not to the point where dipping into foreign designs is necessary anyway. US should never have had the A6M2 -or any of the other Japanese planes- anyway.
