The Japanese a-v8s matador is probably one of if not the best harrier in the game imo in arb (and yes I have them all), it’s also brilliant for air sim too

Yep. 9.7 is a very strong BR for the overall FM, higher BR Harrier 1s like the SHar have to leverage every single micro advantage to stay in the fight, but at 9.7 those advantages make them good. Unlike others like the GR1, the AV-8S has 240 flares and can pre-flare like mad, which also mitigates the harriers really big weakness at the moment which is IR signature and that again is only really relevant in uptiers due to the BR. It also, whilst its a mixed advantage given the BR, it also has the best RWR below 10.0 and is the same as found on the 13.0 Sea Harrier FA2.
FInally it can run 2x Napalm for a base kill.
Definetly the strongest of the 5 Harriers at 9.7

I was getting base kills with just 2 in the Gr1 at least I thought I was. Maybe they are slightly different ones

These are the mk77 same as on the a4e. I testflew it and needed 3. It might be that you need less on 9.7 but idk. I normally don’t base bomb

2 should be enough cuz when a base is Low on Health it loses Health over the Time.

Ik but it stopt at around 1/4 of base health or so. Not enough tho

you are right with the mk77 bomb you´ll need 3 bombs with 2 the base stays alive :D

The test matches do not always (usually?) give a proper test for base bombing. Also, it sometimes depends on what BR (up or downtier) you get into. Higher BR’s bases have more “HP”. Check out @ILEGIONI 's spread sheet for more detailed inforrmation about what it takes to destroy a base. On the left you can see information about the BR differences, for a specific plane (Screenshot below shows BR info location on his spreadsheet) :

Side note screenshot for @ Morvran_ : He is showing H.E. 1000 x5 for the GR.1, fwiw. Not sure if you want to test that out. He usually has the most efficient recommendation for ordinance. Maybe he recommends the bombs so you can still do ground units if no bases available? Idk.

Example of how up/down tiers can change the bomb requirements. In a 4.7 BR match, the B-17E can destroy 4x bases, but in a 5.0 BR+ match, it can only destroy 2x bases (and 1/2 of another base) Also, hover your mouse over the BR numbers for additional/more detailed information:

Dont forget to mention that 8.3 is a brutal BR, full of autocannons and flaks and tons of uptiers.
Just keep that in mind.
