I mean they both were produced in at least 1 airframe that had ALL the features the production aircraft would have had. (At least in the case of the MiG-29M we know production tools were ready to pump copies of the -156 aircraft (now OVT)).
They may save it in dogfights but i think it’s pretty well proven by now that acceleration/climb/speed are far more important for general air RB (especially for BVR) than dogfight performance. And this is pretty dependent on thrust to weight.
Isn’t the J-10 good enough for CAS? Still what the soviet tech tree lacks now is a very competitive top tier aircraft, not CAS. Su-34 is more than enough.
The original 29k is just a navalized original MiG-29M, they both have the small canopy. The ones produced in the 2000s both use the big canopy for single seat and 2 seat versions. (Single seat ones have a fuel tank in the place of the second seat).
Su-30MKK is very different to Su-30SM, it will be just havier Su-27SM without even new engines and will have only slightly more amount of some CAS weapon.
GBU 39 on SU-27,
Maybe we can see them on IG. Sorry if this has already been posted I haven’t read the whole topic
Thats a UAF Su-27.
2 GB500/GB250s/LS6500/LS6250 with a sacrifice of 4 PL12s. That says it. I have asked for 2 extra LS6250s but no reply yet, Su30MKK will literally just be a slightly side graded version of Su27SM.
Still with R77 and CAS options, it can at least be balanced, not do either or neither. Su30MKK does have some interesting features at least although I do agree it is not as much of an exiting aircraft compared to Su30Sm.
MiG-29K is still up there in the list
That’s why I think adding 29K pretty much solves the the issue without needing to add airframe but hey let’s stick back to the Flanker series
Currently only worthwhile, mass produced and famous Flanker/Fullback variants left for VKS is just these 5: Su-27SM3, Su-30SM, Su-30SM2, Su-35S and Su-34M. After that it’s already long overdue for Su-57.
Guess at this rate we are seeing 5th Gen in Dec 2025.
Why do you want an heavier version of the same plane?
Yep, gaijin is just going turbo mode often skipping stuff
Simple answer honestly. It’s not about being lighter or heavier - It’s about being mass produced and fielded, and not being mass produced and fielded.
Edit: Plus 29K is lighter than 29M2 idk what you’re up here
Both the early versions of the M and K (9-15 and 9-31) were neither mass produced nor fielded in active service, while the modern ones (9-61 and 9-41) were both mass produced. No difference there.
It’s not, the M2 is basically a modern K without the naval stuff lol
There was an extremely easy method for defeating the R-27ER when it was meta that made it a lot less relevant than USA mains claimed. It was actually pretty irrelevant in sim.
Not 9-61, but 9-41S
How is the usual su-27 (j-11) on 13.0 playing now? I want to buy a talisman, I feel they will add the ninth rank soon, I need to be safe for the future. Does it make sense? Or j-8F better?
In my opinion it’s still a very good plane, people overexaggerate saying it’s shit because they’ll face fox3s while they forget that it’ll also fight phantoms with a 6x r27er loadout… Now with the fm buff it became much more enjoyable.
I don’t have the j-8f so i can’t say which plane is better for a talisman, but putting on the su-27 wouldn’t be a bad idea
Especially so in Sim where more than 3/4 of the lobbies are Tunisia and Denmark.
I’m purposely only joining Afghanistan lobby since there are actually some elevation to play around in this map… I wish there was more maps to play than those three, but apparently nobody is ever interested in other maps.
Dont… 80% full uptiers and even when its mix of 13.0s, usually you are swarmed by amraams anyway. If it had L-150, sure but SPO-15? NO fkin way.
Sim community is always really funny.
Like the whole 60m multipathing change was heavily lobbied for by sim players but now they play on maps that are almost exclusively flat so they can rely on multipath just like before.
J-8F with PL-12 better?
From my expierience playing sim mostly US players played on those flat maps at top tier so nobody can hide from their radar when they are up in space.
At lower br’s you mostly find those small/flat map because people grind on them by bombing bases
(which is boring af if you ask me)
Most of the players who actally want to do pvp and not just bomb bases prefer maps like Afghanistan,
Spain, Rocky Canyon and Vietnam.
Mind you those are the really big 128km^2 maps and have terrain features which either make multipathing harder or impossible to some extent, while allowing you to terrain mask.
Edit:
if you want to find people to play sim with you can find them on this discord:
