I mean, what stops a person from straight up lying to your face? Never happend ever, right?
Fair enough. Tbh none of that really matters to Gaijin though, at the end of the day they gave the SM2 AL-41 and Irbis
Su-30SM2-2 with Byelka and DIRCM
And Al-41.
Al-41F.
Patiently waiting for my SM2 since I’m gonna pass 35.
Two seater canard superiority> Su35
Nah, nothing beats classic smooth lines of canardless Su-27. And Su-35S improves on it with removal of majority of external sensors. This is why Su-35S is peak.
Here’s what I like about Su-35 visually:
-
The anti-glare paint around the canopy (which older Su-27 didn’t have I think).
-
Redesigned tail
-
Pointier radome (it needs to be pointy, pointy is scary).
@kizvy I think you might have posted about this before but I’m unsure.
Does the R-37M use the same seekerhead as the BUK M3 missile?
Not even close brother.
Two seater Su-30 with canards is the best looking Su-27, only beaten by Su-57.
Wait the SM2 is not supposed to have the AL41? I understand the radar may be incorrect but what’s wrong with the power plant
From what I understand only testbeds flew with AL-41’s but not serial ones.
But for gaijin a testbed was enough.
still in test phase, not in production
So currently the majority of the SM2s still use the AL31 found on the SM? And it doesn’t have the upgraded radar? Or is it a different upgraded radar over the SM?
Maybe it’s just me but it’s a bit confusing as every other source online says it’s own thing
Al-41 is fine by gaijin rules
IRBIS is just made up and shouldnt be on the 30SM2

Pretty much.
And as Ron said the radar is incorrect, the current SM2’s reportedly use a BARS that has extended range, and that can utilize R-37M’s.
All that makes me wonder why they even decided to add the SM2 at all, and not just wait for the Su35s
Lazyness to not model somenthing entirely new…gaijin modus operandi is “dont do unless you cant escape it”…
Don’t worry, it’s ok to be wrong, we still accept you in our Flanker family
My theory is still that it was a direct response to the MKM.
It was an easy addition for gaijin, low effort model (already present in game), just had to pump the engine stats.
They likely had the radar model in the works for the Su-35, and to further prove the un-readiness of the SM2, HUD was wrong for an entire update, and the correct countermeasures are still missing.
