YF-23 is gonna get 120B’s at most… 120D’s came out in 2015 and C’s came out in the late 90s.
The YF-22 won the ATF competition in 1991, so the YF-23 couldn’t have carried 120C’s or D’s.

Yeah no, what I meant is that even in the Su35 picture Balta sent, the surface is smooth and it just looks like a part of the engine cover panel (like in the Su27 picture you just sent).
Although in the video from the new batch of Su35, from that angle the surface looks embossed, like if something was put there between the engine and the rudder, but it’s quite hard to tell without a proper view from above.

originally the F-22 was meant to fit 4 AIM-120A/B internal so YF-23’s bay would also be designed for this

Original design also had no room for Aim-9 sidewinder and required rework on the fusalege, Gaijin might just give 6 Aim-120C’s and 2 Aim-9M/X in the end.
Last time i checked Su-35S is used for reconnaissance. They just patrol the sky and use Irbis to scan area for air and most likely ground targets as well. And “высокоточное оружие” is pretty much anything that isn’t a freefall bomb, including anti-rad missilles. Su-35S usually has at least 1 Kh-31 on a pylon.
