Sukhoi Su-27/30/33/35/37 Flanker series & Su-34 Fullback - History, Design, Performance & Dissection (Part 3)

Where did he get 4.5 Mach from if his official maximum speed is 2.9 Mach?
So, it’s likely that the rocket isn’t configured correctly. Its speed should be 1.5 Machs lower.

I know that, but why is its speed higher than advertised? All its specifications are publicly available on the official website.

my bad, put an extra zero there. It matches in-game top speed perfectly

WHAT THE HELL IS THAT?!

Ok, a bit of info. First of all, mach speed is different for different altitude. Second of all, you are looking at the statcard. Statcard is a separate entity from the missile and can contain absolute gibberish. In-game performance of the Kh-31P matches the info from ROE website.

Are you kidding?

bro hung up on that single statcard number that can’t even be reached in-game and ignores the fact that missile has literally same top speed in-game as advertised by ROE

gaijin just putting the wrong info on the statcard in game, even the missile in game cant do what the stat card claims

1000 m/s in Mach depends on the speed of sound, which changes with temperature and altitude.

Under standard sea level conditions (about 20°C), the speed of sound is approximately 343 m/s.

So:

M=1000343≈2.92M = \frac{1000}{343} \approx 2.92M=3431000≈2.92

Result: ~Mach 2.9

If conditions change:

  • In colder air (lower speed of sound) → Mach number is slightly higher (~3.0+)
  • At higher altitude (also lower speed of sound) → Mach number increases as well

So your value of ~2.94 Mach is already very accurate — the small difference comes from using slightly different standard atmosphere assumptions (340 vs 343 m/s).

For a speed of 1000 m/s, the variation caused by temperature and altitude is usually like this:

approximately Mach 2.9 → Mach 3.3
meaning a difference of about ±0.2–0.25 Mach from the average

Even in extremely cold conditions, you would still only reach around Mach 3.3–3.4, not anything like a +1.5 Mach increase.

I literally said to you that statcard doesn’t represent in-game behavior of a missile. In-game it caps out at 1000 m/s or 3600 km/h, there is no Mach 4.5 in-game, otside of stupid number in a statcard that doesn’t mean anything!
NEVER take statcard numbers at the face value, they are meaningless

Is this not true either?

What this?

Bro… are you for real? Kh-31P and Kh-31PD are DIFFERENT MISSILES. Kh-31PD has longer fuselage, increased payload and STRONGER ENGINE that allows better top speed

Kh-31PD

maximum / peak speed 1000–1100 m/s
which is approximately Mach 3.0–3.3 (sometimes slightly higher in some estimates)

But not like 3.9 Mach.

where the hell did you get 3.9 Mach!?

Thanks I will probably get once I reach br 11.7 to complement by ground forces and grind to SM2 level.

You haven’t played a lot of air, haven’t you?

And I couldn’t find any official information about the Kh-31PD. There’s only information about the Kh-31P.

from ROE

There is literally ROE video about Kh-31PD that states 1100 meters per second. Which is again, correct to the in-game values
