What’s funny is that the AIM-424 which is supposed to have the same purpose as Stratus-RS is already going to be less range than the Stratus-RS which uses ramjet and is supposed to be air-to-air and air to ground simultaneously (just like Malice) while replacing SCALP (600km+ range missile) and boasting further ranges. It does explain the AIM-424 and PL-17, the Stratus-RS is still going to be prioritizing AWACs and SAMs while boasting greater ranges than those missiles.
Stratus LO would be the 600+km SCALP replacement, the estimates for RS put it at around 500km which makes sense compared to the lighter AIM-424 that has to fit in F-35 bays
Stratus-LO is UK’s choice of development. Stratus-RS is France’s choice of development. Both will replace the SCALP in each other’s respective services. Think of it as one program being developed with two different solutions while sharing parts to reduce costs.
MBDA only says 250+km for SCALP and it’s a far bigger missile flying at a much more favorable speed/altitude
500km for stratus RS is being generous considering the heavier warhead than comparable AAM, and drag from intakes, and reduced lofting ability
Are weight numbers out for RS? I’ve seen 800kg vs 1300kg for SCALP
Better to compare the Stratus-RS to the ASMP even though the ASMP will be much older by decades and has a nuclear warhead. Also consider that the ASMP is air to ground, so it will spend a lot of time near the ground where there’s drag compared to Stratus-RS which will remain at altitude when fired at high-value targets. Otherwise the ASMP is ~800kg weight.

Afaik PL-10 has Datalink. I don’t know what source you have that it doesn’t.
And the U.S. Doesn’t produce the 9X Block I anymore. Only Block II and II+. Both of which have datalink.

I do not think that Ramjets are bad because the U.S, China, Russia do not use them.
However, most of the people who talk about the Meteor claim that it’s the perfect missile. (this is of course, arbitrary to my experience, so I am Biased)
I believe that if this were the case, then there would be a massive push for every military in the world to have some form of contemporary Ramjet-powered missile.
There are undeniable advantages and disadvantages to both Ramjets and Dual-Pulse motors. But I have heard the term “Meteor Mogs” one too many times when trying to Discuss Long-Range missiles.
It could be true that the Meteor would mog in-game in Warthunder because there’s no consideration of mass-production quality in Warthunder. Irl Meteor could mog other missiles but if a country only has 100 Meteor versus another country with 400 dual-pulse missiles, then there’s different considerations here to take into account.
Is there any source that it does?

It’s a simple logical deduction: the J-20’s canards obstruct the PL-10 missile’s seeker field of view, requiring a data link for auxiliary tracking. Additionally, CCTV has mentioned the PL-10’s over-the-shoulder launch capability in some programs, which also relies on data link assistance.

This is probably true at the moment, considering most fights take place around 5km.
Dual Pulse engines would probably only have any advantage once we get 5th gens like the F-22, F-35 or J-20 with AIM-260, AIM-424, or PL-17, since those would be able to stay relatively undeteced at altitude (besides the massive contrails)
Then again, I doubt the average Raptor pilot in game would be brave enough to get 30m off the deck to press his advantage.

That’s true as well.
Most secondary sources on the PL-10 mention datalink.
Of course we don’t have many Primary sources, because it’s Chinese.
These missiles at arent made for fighters ideally, if your target is a awacs you can throw the missile into borderline ballistic paths. The TDR on the meteor is specifically good for fighters.
Also i would point out that the us would’ve put a ramjet missile in service if it wasnt for the dissolution of the ussr.

It doesn’t require it, you can just tell the missile where to go with IOG even if the missile can’t see it.

I wonder why they didn’t include Datalink on the PL-10 then. That seems like a major oversight.
