Sukhoi Su-27/30/33/35/37 Flanker series & Su-34 Fullback - History, Design, Performance & Dissection (Part 3)

It was stated on CCTV iirc that it can supercruise at mach 1.8.

is funny considering its max operating mach number is 2.0 from what i have seen (tho with unknown engines) anyway off-topic

Curious to see how those numbers would bump with WS-15’s, since those look to be quite some powerful engines.

would have to know anything about them first, even info on the current WS-10C/C2 is scarce to come across

as thrust estimates vary widely

True that, still if it’s in the realm of 16000/17000kgf it’s pretty impressive.

For stealth aircrafts operating speed isn’t necessarily based of off engines. Stealth coating doesn’t really like being heated up, and even if it is sturdy enough to survive the heat - molecular structure will still shif due to heat expansion which will lead to deterioration of absorbing capabilities

which is why its top speed is prolly capped at mach 2, and itll also prolly not even operate close to that speed

and ingame top speed isnt that important but acceleration and energy retention is

Cute

for a second i thought i was looking at a canardless Su-34

depending on the year CCTV said that it could be for WS-15’s

Enjoy!!

Su27P is the big 26

I remember posting that video(or at least seeing it around) a few months ago.

Iirc the Su-35S is acting as an AWACS while the 27P carries around ammo for it N035 to datalink in.

Yes ik it’s my post

I think top speed will be important in nuclear escalator where you’re trying to squeeze the most out of your draggy missiles by going as fast as you can and as high for some cap planes, but acceleration also matters as well.

I might be stupid but since your plane is heavier doesn’t that mean you need higher lift to overcome it and thus a slightly higher aoa at a given speed, and therefore causing slightly more drag?
Idk not sure that impacts the top speed in any way

There is actually a difference, but it seems to be extremely minor. @ron_23 i tested clean wing MiG-29SMT with min and full fuel (infinite fuell on) at around 1k of altitude (i just kept it level, but it climbed on its own due to speed) and got 1495kph for min fuel and 1492kph for full fuel

Makes sense, thank you

you can use this camera to prevent that from happening, since you actually get a working velocity vector there

well iam asuming that you used afterburner for that bc otherwise you wont reach those speeds at 1 km alt
but here is a full fuel 29SMT at 1km

and there is what i could get at 5km alt with full and min fuel

Spoiler

(for min fuel it was going between 1142 and 1141 kph)
