Sukhoi Su-27/30/33/35/37 Flanker series & Su-34 Fullback - History, Design, Performance & Dissection (Part 2)

i think the 90x80 is with the E-scan + mech

Right so the pilot can mechanically turn the radar 30 degrees left or right to move the ESA scan zone right

Yeah. And that’s what we have in game.
Max scan zone of 90x90 and then you can move it within a 140 degree zone horizontally

Right I see the 140 degrees in test drive, but why is the tws 80x7? Looks like they got the ±40 esa right but why is the elevation only max 7 and goes down to 4 in other tws modes? Shouldn’t it be ±40 esa vertical too? Oh wait that’s the search mode, but the search modes should still be 80x80, why is it 80x7 like a little fan.

i still got it it seems. Although it was downtier

Basically it’s the zone where tws continuously updates.

I see. I couldn’t find any sources on the TWS tracking sector but do you know how Gaijin got 80x8 as the maximum?

Nah they prolly pulled it outta nowhere

Has anyone knows why the numbers keep twitching on TWS mode?

I was confused too. In test drive, it would switch from 8 to 7 randomly, but not glitching like this.

It happens on Russian SM/SM2 as well.

Good old R27ER slaps the bitch out of EFT ))

First signs of tweaking, will develop into full tweaking mode by the June update.

what do you think the T in TWS stands for?

The numbers, Mason.
what do they mean?

Su-33 “Early” (worthless since the only difference is cockpit and the lack of any RWR)
Su-33UB/T-10KUB-1, good event slop but it’d be pretty bad…

and there’s a bunch of chinese ones that I’m not knowledgeable about.

Anyone know why the Su-30SM2 radar likes to fail to hard lock lock from TWS while rolling or pitching? Is it just gaijin jank striking again or is this some behavior that affects all aircraft radars.

cause when you’re rolling or pitching you’re moving the lock box relative to your plane, not the horizon. So when you roll, it moves the ACQ box off the target. Notice when you “lock” a target, the radar briefly goes into ACQ mode to acquire the target.

It’s a lot easier to see on something like n001 where the ACQ is up to ~2 seconds.

Does it still move it relative to the plane if you select radar stabilisation relative to the horison btw? I completely forgot about that feature.
