Yeah nowadays MiG is not even the shadow of what it was, just the corpse at this point… Crazy how MiG used to be the big one with Sukhoi behind, and then came the double project of the 70s and it flipped over completely.

they redesigned the airframe
it new to me that the Foxbat was a dual seater and had recessed pylons for the r-33/r-37 on the belly
and then there is the redesigned wing
the internal gun
and a bunch of smaller stuff like the landing gear

One of the easiest ways tell the Foxbat and Foxhound apart is the tail; 25’s horizontal stabilisers protrude back past the engines, whereas the 31’s nozzles are longer.
Other than that, 31 has tandem seats and small LERX. Those are usually the most noticeable external changes.
