Back on the topic of Sukhois - it seems that gaijin tries to balance Irbis + 27ER combo, right now it is pretty easy to break a lock from distances past 20km
So while back, during a heated discussion on radar performance, Primarily about on ESA update scan on targets away from where its actually scanning, I stated that, Su30sm2(N035),Su30sm(N011) do not scan past a certain point from their centralized radar scanning area. To further verify this, We have a lovely sheet made by a good and credited Dataminer called Valyrie(Horiane), Ill be linking the sheet at the end, he has multiple spread sheets and ill guide you where the exact code based extracted information I am talking about is linked.
- Most General TWS ESA Radar Scan updates for targets past the normal centralized zones of where those radars are scanning:
As you can see, scan updates of targets outside the scope, are reaching their max gimbal limits vertically and horizontally(azimuth). For example. ECRS Mk1, has a max normal gimbal limit of 180x180, and so does it’s TWS ESA UPDATE Scan have such gimbal limits, etc further on.
Same goes for MK2, which has a max gimbal of 200x200, and their TWS UPDATE SCAN zones are also 200x200…
- Some radars have restrictions of such. Bringing to my point being Su30sm(N011M) and Su30sm2(N035) Pesa radars, which IRL have restrictions to a point where they can no longer update targets after a certain degrees from where the radar is looking but within their max gimbal limit. Reminder, (N011 has a max gimbal of 140x70) and N035( has a max of 240x120)
Now, notice how their ESA UPDATE SCAN are actually respectively lower than their max gimbal limits.
For the n011, its 90 degrees horizontally whilst being 80 degrees vertically from the centralized radar position. Similar for N035 being 120 degrees horizontally, and 80 degrees vertically.
So what does this mean, if your enemy target ever gets out of those zones within in your actual max gimbal limit but past those degrees mentioned from the centralized location at where your radar is actually pointing, the targets will disappear.
Now for the why & how is this only implemented to certain Pesa radars? i couldn’t really answer that but as far as i know it is realistic. I know some people know this here, and could take the time to answer it. For now I cant.
here is the sheet, made by Horiane. : WT airborne radar sheet - Google Spreadsheets
he has a glossary sections for terms you do not know, or understand their calculations, so be sure to look through that if you’re missing something.
All the stuff i mentioned is in ASS PD TWS ESA, where all your esa radars will be found and their information. Have fun going thru, its very good and interesting.
(also to solve this issue, Just point ur radar close to the targets u want to keep an eye on(on the targets you’ve already scanned) and you should have no issue, but wont be able to to keep track of targets on the opposite extreme gimbal limits, so its a trade off)
Argument was about situational awareness, and due to things like these some pesa have considerably a little worse than others. Either way, not game breaking but a pointer. Just because its ESA radar doesn’t mean all radars are exactly the same in mechanics. Gaijin has done some unique modelling to Pesa in general.
Well, vertical angles are the most important thing when it comes to situational awareness anyway. That’s why Rafale was king of spotting before new AESA radars came into the game.
Best i can do is light grey, sorry
that seems worng, it should just be the zone where the electronic zone is scanning. so for n011m, it should be 45x45 degrees, and for n035 it should be 60x60.
old su-30mk brochure with n011m when it had 40x40 e scan, it now has 45.

Houston, we have lift

If you scroll down there’s su30sm/sm2 as well.
We are back
This is not on live, correct?
Yep likely one of the next patches
Just hit live a minute ago
Oh nvm misinformation on my end😂
More stealth buffs to Russian stuff very cool Gaijin.
it was literally reported bro, it was underperforming even compared to the prototype flanker (though report used su-27sk docs)
Yooooh, better turn
average luque13 moment
So was the F-15 reports that were accepted and nothing actioned.
Maybe Gaijin need to release a premium F-15 seems the only way none French aircraft get buffs
