TL-20s or Stormbreaker

Not anymore, iirc every single one was gone trough SM or SM3 upgrade programs. And Su-27P were completely retired
I mean not really… Su-25s have proven to not really be needed in a war like Ukraine but that doesn’t mean they need to get rid of them entirely, especially since most of the ones they operate are SMs…
now something that SHOULD be gotten rid of is Su-24M/M2…
they are getting rid of them as soon as airframes reach the end of service life. For now you still can drop glide bombs from them, so it works.
They aren’t even doing that, they haven’t been since about 2023 iirc…
Probably to keep quantity. In areas with less anti-air desnsity Su-24M2 can drop UMPKs just as fine as Su-34 so you can keep 34s on more dangerous missions while having more aircrafts overall
Were they?
As for 2022 there were interceptions made using them
Aswell as some “got burned” in 2024…
If wikipedia to be believed, by 2024 only 12 Su-27s were left in Russian airforce and 18 in navy. Rest are all modernised to SM or SM3 standard. Not a sinle 27P mentioned.
well, wikipedia sucks, but ig there might be no better source.
but so far, it could be actually more as they were in fact used quite a lot
Visually there is pretty much no difference between 27S and 27P so those 12 mentioned could be the last airframes. Other than that, from what i heard, SM and SM3 are the ones that get distributed to PVO, while 35S and 30SM are saved for regular airforce units.
Probably because it only accounts for the extra weight, still the same acceleration
it’s only 13kg of difference tho, between 77 and 77-1
well, from what i heard all 27S were modified into 27P, as per nuclear weapons regulations
yeah, and it was just a replacement of a single small avionics block in the cockpit. Technically every single 27S should be 27P this way.
R-77 is 129.94m/s²
R-77-1 is 128.16m/s²
So, missile with less drag, stronger motor and 13kg of additional weight has… less acceleration? That’s a certified gaijin moment.
7.3% increase in weight but only 5.9% increase in thrust
