Imo it’s just too minuscule of an upgrade to even justify a folder.
Isn’t the entire point of the folder is to move things that just bloat up the grind for little reason elsewhere…
Like, personally I think a folder is perfect for this scenario since 30SM2 can be foldered under SM (due to not being the biggest of improvements if it was actually accurate to real life) so if someone wanted to get it or wanted to just get 35S, either party wouldn’t be hindered.

Yes, but foldered vehicles should at least have some differences. There is substantial difference between F-104A and F-104C in terms of payload, or difference between F-16A and F-16ADF. difference between SM and SM2 is non-existent

If AIM-120D doesn’t have significant improvements to the seeker and kinematics it’ll still be 24 terrible missiles on a big fast cow. No gimbaled AESA means that’s just 24 shots in the dark, none of them will be actually threatening to anyone awake.
If they are adding it instead of tweaking 120C, there is a high probability of giving 120D some substantial changes. Sure gaijin can also make it 120C but with EVEN MOAR ENGINE, but I have my doubts
