Sukhoi Su-27/30/33/35/37 Flanker series & Su-34 Fullback - History, Design, Performance & Dissection (Part 2)

is the R-37M a phoenix/fakour type missile stupid fast and long burn time but cant pull Gs for shit?

yes it is

it is said to reach mach 5 and has a max range of 400km

IRL it can shoot down fighters. But to be fair, in WT the planes have a maximum overload of 10-16G

It has ok Gs just doesn’t hit most of the time. With this type of range, u are given like minutes to dodge, unless it is an EWC or AEWC aircraft you will easily get away, just that it forces u off the mission.

That’s their account. The hit rate is ultra low, but since quite a lot are fired quite a lot of jets were shot down. Most of the time it just forces defensive manoeuvres which stops u from getting things done.

sure but that were ultra long range shots (100km+) we wont see that in wt, bc the maps are to small

Minimum of 24 gs

Is that launched from a MiG 31 or a Su-35 genuinely interested?

Export variant is said to have 200km range, not sure about the one Russians use

probably from the Mig-31

there is a HUD video of an Su-35S launching it at 160 -180km, dont know the speed of the Su-35S tho, because it was blurred

Do you know the source of it having 400km range is from?

It was more I know MiG 31 launch air versions of Kinzhal and they get high and really fast to increase range.

it also launched that one in the NEZ xD

the 400km might be an estimation based on what the base r-37 was said to achive

“In 1994 a trial round killed a target at 162 NMI, a record for a BVR missile.”

this equates to ~300km and was achived with the normal r-37 and not with the r-37m

“from 80 NMI for a direct shot, to a maximum of 215 NMI for a cruise glide profile.”

this equates to 398.18 km or ~400km

the normal r-37 still had a noraml mechanical seeker, the r-37m has an AESA seeker

so it might be possible that the r-37m in russian service has even more range

unrelated but still interesting:
it is said that Mig-31 were using the KS-172/ R-172, which is interesting because it was said that they abandoned the programm/ sold it off to India

the KS-172 never entered service btw, it’s derived from the S-300

i know, but there were recent rumors/news that it is used on the Mig-31 currently

i’ll wait for a pic of that happening, tho they could’ve mistaken it for the not yet in service R-97 (izd-810)
