Eurfighter got an AESA radar
Only took like 25 years after everyone else for the main operators to get it lol
well they have it now tho
Maybe on a handful. But currently most typhoons in use probably still have M-scan radars
tbh i dont really care about the real life implecations, because they dont really matter as long as no big war breaks out (and i think nobody wants that) iam more interested in the implecations for war thunder
su57 is itself highly capable, the main reason it was dropped was due to budget overruns (with only half of the money put into the project) and barely and transfer of technology. ever since they didnt recieve ToT for su30mki even after agreeing for licensed production, india doesnt take much orders without full ToT for jets.
not to mention the fact they werent even let close to a su57 (or t-50 in this case). serial su57 didnt exist till 2020 and india quit the project in 2019
also the mig-35 were dropped due to mediocre radar performance, other than that they already had capable upgraded mig29 in the inventory
The entire point of supercruise is to be able to “cruise” supersonically. We’ve discussed this and you continue to bring it up to drag discussion off topic. The Su-35 meets the same criteria for “supercruise” as the Eurofighter I.e. it can’t.
The F-22 can cruise supersonically, meaning the throttle is at less than 100% and it is fuel efficient when doing so. The Eurofighter has to maintain 100% throttle to hardly exceed the wave drag boundary. It is certainly “cruising” in comparison to afterburner mode, but it does not have the best afterburning fuel efficiency.
The Su-35 has good afterburning fuel efficiency for the thrust class and has more fuel onboard to stay in the sky for longer. The sensor suite is tailored towards picking up emissions from 4th gen fighters like the Eurofighter and is equipped with a similarly capable IRST / EO suite.
Both have access to very long range air to air missiles and a number of potent short range missiles with the Typhoon having an advantage only really WVR due to the ASRAAM. That’s assuming R-74 variants aren’t simply better in close range encounters, which we don’t know anything about.
India was never offered the Su-57, the PAK FA and Su-57 are two separate programs stemming from the T-50 series prototypes and the airframes would have differed greatly. It is likely India was not happy with this and thought they were getting the same product as Russia when they first entered the program.
iirc the Indian version was called “FGFA”… India has not outright declined a potential decision to request the Su-57E export variant, however.
Most Typhoons do not have an AESA, the Typhoon was made to fight an enemy 20 years ago who already had PESA. It is the last operational “gen4+” fighter yet to receive AESA and that timeline is still being pushed back.
It’s not down to percentages of throttle, it’s primarily dictated by the ability to breach supersonic at mil power.
The F-22A can hold mach at 71-74% throttle, but cannot surpass it from subsonic speeds without mil power.
The Su-35S, though, is indeed able to supercruise at mil. Its ability to reach supersonic speeds is still limited at mil, though, and it would either need a pretty hefty downward pitch or ab to reach it.
It’s especially interesting to see the tech used for ab ignition.
The R-74 is no thing more than an R-73 with a domestic seeker head. You’d need to go to R-74M2 for parity with the ASRAAM, as even the R-74M simply used a dual-band seeker.
The PAK-FA is the T-50. India was offered Su-57 models, the simple existence of T-50-4 and T-50-7KNS at the event doesn’t mean they were offered pre-production PAK-FAs that are not and will not be in production anywhere.
India’s only gripe was that it didn’t have as much multirole capability as they wanted… Which at this point, it has been proven to be quite great against ground targets.
They left the program due to costs. They even had their own domestic 5th gen shut down because of lack of monetary support.
Im preeeeeetty sure that T-50 was born out of PAK FA (Перспективный Авиационный Комплекс Фронтовая Авиация) program and Su-57, in term, is a final product (which is still being iterated on, but that machine was made perfect from the get go?) of the said program with aforementioned T-50 being a one of the steps (same way as T-10 for Su-27 family)
They never 'banned ’ it, the Rafale purchase was partly: AESA radar + better awareness systems. The main consideration is however political, similar to that of Serbia, you don’t want to be too close as to your military strength is tied directly to Russia.
what are you referring to
India, MiG29s to Su30s to MiG21. Afaik they can in theory produce a load of stuff, but after all they are Russian, and India’s own production and maintenance can be said as dissatisfactory.
I won’t said its good. At that point the missile has almost the same speed as the F-15 any slight turn and he could have evade it. I still want to see what the Su-35s would be able to do with better speed and able to launch two at the same time.
I maintain the lock on him from the 80+km. I usually do that on player that are flying thing like F-15/EF/RAFALE. Just to piss them off. Some time even shoot some R-77-1 just to force them going cold.
He wasn’t. IMO he thought that he still have time to launch at some people. You can see the contrail of third missile he launch on the second pic.
1 ton. And imo that its too much…
Idk about that. You can see pic of Chinese flankers without paint and the amount of Al-Li/Composite and Titanium its the same. IMO what make the Su-35s heavy than other flankers its the Digital component. While its was the best Russian could build at that time. Its aged really fast. To the point that they change them on Late T-50 prototype. So the advantage of Chinese flanker on weight come from the electronic and in some case like J-16 its the absence of the Gsh-30-1 and it ammo.
No, it isn’t. The Su35 has extra fuel tanks, that’s what makes them heavier. Over 2 tonnes more fuel capacity in fact. As for extra avionics, the radar is lighter than N001, by hundreds of kilos.
I mean it’s up to interpretation, cause different colour likely means different material usage, but well.
Yea it have a new fuel tank where the airbrake was suppose to be. So its a trade off. Also is not like that fuel tank have fuel all the time. Its just an option for more fuel. That Area of the frame its a bit large on Su-35s compare to a su-27. But compare to an J-16 that its a two seater?? which add more weight??.
Yea IRBIS its heavy that its true. But that its a component or system that can be change at anytime. And its not part of the Frame.
not really
I know about the weight of IRBIS. But its true that Su-35s has more system than Su-30sm. Like the L-band radar on the wing. the IR maws… etc. So for me yeah su-35s its lighter than Su-30sm but end being about the same weight because of all these new stuff on it. I also still believe that the Knaapo brochure have Khibiny pod weight include. So the Su-35s don’t weight 19tons but close to 18.5tons.
Edit; Also note that that old Brochure talk about RAM on Su-35s and that also add weight.
