Sukhoi Su-27/30/33/35/37 Flanker series & Su-34 Fullback - History, Design, Performance & Dissection (Part 1)

Same for the people that made jerry rigged the datamined R-77-1’s into modded custom battles where one plane could launch all of the missiles at the same time at a target for direct comparisons. SPAMRAAM was still king back then and the 77-1 had just a bit more reach before it bled itself dry.

I still find it funny though from what I’ve read the differences between the 77 and 77-1 are similar to the 27r and ER which are a decent step up from each other, if they model the drag correctly for speeds above Mach they could be a really good step up but with the current drag model I agree that it has a little more reach before falling like a drag bomb

TBF, the Americans already got their busted F-15E’s, the DeltaDucks are likely all in response to the unintentional powerspike from that plane.

As for russia, i genuinly think they got caught in the crossfire this update. Something like,. the Su-33 was coming to go along with the F/A-18’s which werte slated for the update, but they had to pull the EFT/Rafale and any potential chinese jet we havent seen (supposedly J-10B/J-11B) to try to “fix” the balance at top tier, but they werent working on something russian cuz 99% of the upcoming stuff is Flanker/Fulcrum based, so they just had to slap the Su-33 in and called it a day.

Thats the only thing that makes sense to me, and also likely the reason why we didnt actually see a whole lot in the trailer, theyre probs rushing to implement some of these vehicles earlier than they wanted.

I think russia just caught a stray this update unfortunately. On the flip side, I wouldnt be surprised if they got a new better R-73 and/or maybe the R-77-1 for the SMT, SM, and Su-34 to try to tide them over, cuz as it stands, russia isnt competitive at all with any of the other nations with this upcoming update.

Ah stop complaining, no one of you, soviet air players gave a single s… thought when any other nation got the same treatment, you’re getting a solid missile bus. It’s kinda funny how a lot of you try to pretend that R-27ER era wasn’t a thing. R-77 isn’t even that good, why you want it in the first place…

So let’s try to understand what you’re saying: Because a specific weapon was dominant a year ago the specific tree that equipped this weapon should suffer now? I really don’t understand how people legitimate this neanderthal logic of one nation dominating for a certain timeframe for then another nation to take its place months later.

This is some of the biggest bullshit i’ve ever seen since many of us were against the r27er addition even back when the 29 was added, since It was always considered a lazy solution for its underperformance compared to the f16.

If it’s better than the current r-77 then why not add?

All aircraft equipped to launch them have improved PESA with 85 degree gimbal limits or possibly better.

The original R-77 has inferior motor, grid fins, seeker, proximity fuse.
RVV-AE shares the modernized seeker of RVV-SD but has worse grid fins and motor.
R-77-1 has superior seeker and the improved proximity fuse, motor, grid fins, etc.

How that compares to a missile with identical everything but booster is beyond me.

As we know, the in-game model for the R-77 and R-77-1 is the most flawed of any missile in the game currently.

We see mirage 2000D rmv only on 2 dev. I think we seen j10 and 11b on Dev

It was a general comparison in flight performance not seeker, which as of right now are more or less the same. I agree though the seeker on the -1 are a lot better and the missile has a more aerodynamic design with better motor, therefore the flight performance increase is better that the R to ER but still I was using it as a general reference

Mica also

Well. If France got its Rafale F3-4, then where is the my Su-35.

MICA is nowhere near as flawed as the R-77 which is hampered by the improper modeling of the missile as though it has conventional planar fins of exceedingly high drag compared to the grid fins which would offer some pretty wonderful advantages - particularly in regards to maneuvering drag reduction compared to planar fins.

I wouldn’t mind the su-37 just for its flight performance it would have as it has a higher TW than the su-35 and also incorporates a pesa radar, like the su-35, but adds canards as well. With the higher TW would minimize, not negate, the added weight of the canards. Now before anyone says anything, I know it was a tech demonstrator but it had all of its systems installed and I’d love to see it in the tech tree but ultimately it will likely be an event vehicle or worse a premium

I think USSR TT lost Su-37, brish or France steal him. ( Because it was made to sell to the UAE )

Don’t remember you talking about it though back then though. And that’s not exactly the point. My point is - take it easy and enjoy what you have because you certainly have enough
