This thread is not exclusive to gameplay tho, i would say it’s not even one of the most important issues discussed here, it’s a Lot more focused on the history of the flanker and its variants and i believe its main purpose is to help making the plane as accurate as possible ingame… ppl are talking more about the 30sm NOW cuz it got leaked and it’s the next top tier addition for Russia.

What are the forum’s general opinion of how the su27 ranks against other 13.0s
Imo the su-27 is the best 13.0 by far, 27ERs are monsters and you get 6 of them while f15s get only 4 sparrows, although the f4 ice gets amraams the airframe sucks. Against other ranks i personally don’t think it’s that crap considering that in downtiers you can absolute obliterate the enemy team, but it would be nice to get some decompression, uptiers against f15C are acceptable but fighting stuff like typhoons is kinda sad, not as bad as the mig29G because you have much more stuff but it’s still sad.

I would put su27 in the running for best 13.0 but I feel jets like F-15A/J, Gripen A, F-16A (France), and F4F KWS are also in that race

I have mixed feelings about it, particularly on the sim side of things.
A lot of jets were lowered to 13.0 recently, which has made the 12.0-13.0 BR range in sim feel absolutely infested with 4th gen jets at this point. You see the occaisional harrier or F-4F KWS LV, but everyone is flying around in MiG-29/F-14/F-15/F-16/Gripen/M2K/M4K now. I the past, when the F-15 and M2K were the “oppressive” planes in the BR range, I wouldve said the Su-27 had no place there and would have rathered seen the M2K/F-15 raised to 13.3, but now that 13.0 has seemingly become the defacto “4th gen without ARH” BR, I think the Su-27/J-11 likely deserves to be dropped down.
On the flipside tho, the R-27ER really is a tremendously powerful missile, and is only matched/exceeded by ARH’s, so it might be too much for the BR range when paired with a good FM and HMD.
On a bit of a selfish note, I do wanna see them dropped to 13.0, or for there to be a 12.3-13.3 BR brqcket in sim sometimes so i have an excuse to run my J-11, cuz i got a nice camo for it :3
Is the Su-33 really only supposed to have 48 countermeasures?

ECMs, FA-18G has good win rates even against F-22, that’s much more efficient than carrying dead weight of extra CM, not needed.

the EA-18G has likely the best ECM pods in the world, versus one of the earliest american AESA radars
Doesn’t matter, soviets thought so, so they did it. Also that is just to prove a point, ECMs are more efficient than physical CMs. So doesn’t really matter if it carries less actual CMs, less or no chaff carried, mostly flares I think.

I got this clip tonight playing the su27 casually. 7 Kills in about 110 seconds (shows off how controlling and powerful the flanker is at its own br and in a downtier)
It can have irl +80 dipoles on the position of R-27ET missiles.
I can’t find any graphic with Kh-38 on manufucture site. But i don’t understand it, i thought they will switch to Kh-38 from Kh-29.
They don’t use it for ground attack
Yeah its rough when you meet one in a Tornado F.3 it’s superior in all but the Radar
What I didn’t expected is Tiberian Sun soundtrack on Su-27 with North Korean flags and Kazakh Air Force camouflage
But it still has capabilities to use A2G ordinance
