Sukhoi Su-27/30/33/35/37 Flanker series & Su-34 Fullback - History, Design, Performance & Dissection (Part 1)

It can have irl +80 dipoles on the position of R-27ET missiles.

I can’t find any graphic with Kh-38 on manufucture site. But i don’t understand it, i thought they will switch to Kh-38 from Kh-29.

They don’t use it for ground attack

Yeah its rough when you meet one in a Tornado F.3 it’s superior in all but the Radar

What I didn’t expected is Tiberian Sun soundtrack on Su-27 with North Korean flags and Kazakh Air Force camouflage

But it still has capabilities to use A2G ordinance

Thats what the song was from!

Yeah, and no practical limitations for it, aside from roles being put onto this specific plane type, Russian Air Force didn’t made the best choice with Su-30SM and Su-34

True

what do you mean ?

Su-33 have 4x B-8M what is together 80 dipoles (chaffs). However, there is a problem that these rocket launchers are located on the pylons for the R-27ET, so if they were added, you can equip them at the cost of losing two missiles.

Yeah, you are right.

does the su35sm exist? I’ve already searched for information about it, and there’s almost nothing, just an article or two from questionable sources

You sure you’re not referring to Su-35BM? BM standing for Bolshoy Modernatziye - my Russian is rusty - ‘Big Modernising’.

To my knowledge there isn’t a 35SM.

does Su-25BM stand for same thing? i always thought it was “belarus modernization” or something along thos lines

Well the handle ‘BM’ after a plane designation is usually Bolshoy Modernatziye. Certainly when it comes to Russian stuff used by the Russians. Not sure if the Belorussians have their own conventions.

M is usually Modernatziye or some similar tag ‘Modernised’.

S - I forget the Russian word - but it roughly means Combatant.

Hence SM is Combatant/Modernised.

As always - there are exceptions to the rule. The MiG-25PD for example does not have lifting engines… you’d combine the P (Interceptor) with the D (Upgraded) to give PD.
