Is the SU-30SM the best su30? Or are there other better versions?
There are upgraded versions of the Su-30SM with better engines, otherwise yes it’s the best SU-30

The buff to the Su-27 has put it in a similar performance envelope as the F-15E. Typhoon will always have TWR over the Sukhoi. The Canards and TVC will allow the Su-30SM to dominate VWR
Typhoons Radar is also terrible.
Su-30SM x10-R-77 and x2 R-73 will not be taken lighly.
Typhoon can carry x6 120s and x2 aim9m
For WT purpose probably much better. since it has far better engines

Is the engine improvement that significant?
They usually don’t because it’s used as a multi-role instead of an air superiority fighter, but it can carry R-77s up to the second to last pylon under the wing

Oh yes. The AL-41 is much more powerful
not really, f15s, f16s, gripens, ef and etc, got a LOT, and i mean A LOT of cms to just keep pre flaring like a maniac

Their “normal weight” (i believe they mean the default weaponry and fuel amount used by the crews) appears to be close to each other but unfortunately the website does not inform the empty weight of the su-30sm

They can and that method would work on any IR missile.
Still in the merge the Su-30 will be unsurpassed.
? Su-27SM is much better in dogfight but quite a bit worse in high altitude speed and climb, and Su-30SM is like 2 tons heavier if memory serves me well.
This is why it will be the best flight model for BVR in the game apart from the F-22 and maybe in certain situations the MiG-31.
Which is largely irrelevant. Gripen was the best dogfighter until this update, but it was hardly the best plane since we got fox-3s.
If it gets fixed it will be absolutely fine, and even now it’s not an huge handicap.
You described the Su-30SM very well here, will probably be a missile truck with a good radar and a good first turn.
Isn’t the su27’s empty weight 16,000kg?
my point was, since most planes have a great amount of cms, you only need to have 2 neurons to avoid dying to an r73, energy fighters are currently doing better, maybe that changes when we got r73m or better versions of it
It’s really bad, ghost returns and the inability to reliably change targets. I have so many teamkills from the Radar deciding to lock a friendly :(
It’s over a tonn of difference, plus it has likely worse drag since the cockpit is a lot bigger.

Not while we have multipathing, the R-73 like the Aim9M will continue to be vital
