Typhoons Radar is a liability, it’s payload is one of the weakest. 120s are good at longer range and 9ms are well fine they dont pull G and cant be used in a dogfight.
The Su-30 will find Typhoon first it will be in a position to apply pressure and keep Typhoon on the defensive until it gets into realistic killing ranges
It then sits in the notch and uses up the other 5+ missiles it has.
All Typhoon can do in that case is try and multipath or run away and go cold
If that doesnt work and it merges with Typhoon the R-73 and Cobra button give it more of an advantage.
Typhoons Radar is terrible. Su-30 has better SA.
Yes Typhoon is fast which is relevant.
6 120s vs 12 R-77-1
BOL pods as your main counter measures a MAWS/DASS system that doesnt work.
Aim9M is fine, but as distances close the missile is less effective similar to the 120.
I think equal pilots the Su-30SM edges it in the current game.
Its a solid radar, you don’t need much to hammer down the pressure on the enemy, either TWS with narrow search limits or STT.
Even the notorious Su-27SM radar is enough for that.
What it can’t do the best is the lazy tactic of climbing, rippling off all the fox3’s and running back to base. Which is a bad play either way, because again, it doesn’t press the advantage.
Maintaining pressure, you don’t need to get into dogfight range. The IRCCM does the rest.
Su-35S and Su-30SM2 (not all of them from my understanding) carry AL-41F-1S, and Su-57 carries AL-41F-1. 1S difference is usage of old hydromechanical engine controls, while basic F-1 uses electrical controls. I dunno if reduced thrust is due to that or some other changes tho.
Same with AL-37FU. From the information i gathered it was ultimately scrapped, but all the work put there resulted in AL-41F-1 engines. Su-37 demontrator had good old AL-31FP, just like Su-30SM
