To give some background, i’ve played naval quite extensively. this is albeit the fact that I only play naval with US and 5.7 as the highest BR. I am looking to expand in naval for more option to gamba my time away for quick 400K SL, any ship, in all nation, that is currently in a good position to buy? Looking to buy in Summer sales when they got fiddy percent discount.
USS Frank Knox is the best for grinding SL. One of the best destroyers at her BR, great damage output, reasonable survivability, good matchmaker, great SL multiplier.
If you want to try something new (since Frank Knox is just a copy paste of the tech tree Gearing), you could try the HMS Diamond. Slightly worse guns but slightly better torpedos and SL multiplier (6x SL multiplier is as high as it goes).
USS Moffett and Helena used to be highly recommend for SL grind due to their high damage output for their BRs and high SL multiplier (also the maximum 6x SL), but these days they see a lot of uptiers and suffer heavily in them. Also the stern magazine of the Moffett is a well known weak spot that any experienced player will know to aim for.

How about non-anglo nation? is Karlsruhe, Kerch, Tigre, Pola, Myoko, Dupleix or Belgorod? good for it’s BR?
HMS Belfast is my go to for SLs
If you face someone who knows what they are doing, you are a little squishy, but with all the bots, its an easy farm
compared to something like Karlsruhe at the same BR, anything different?
Belfast has:
- More Armour
- More crew
- More Guns (4x Triple 6" vs 3x Triple 6")
- Better AA
But doesnt get Torpedos, which can actually be quite annoying
With good shot placement, you can fight heavy cruisers in the Belfast (wierdly, i’ve been shredding Prinz Eugens since the last update, way more than I would expect)
Just watch out, your ammo racks are extremely vulnerable to attack.
That having been said. If you have any interest in a perticular nations ships, Id get a premium for that nation and not just get SLs but RP too. With all the bots, you can make great SLs in anything, just need to learn where to aim

Hehe yeah, though I find whenever im in something with torps. I never get a chance to use them. Every single match in Belfast. I get a dozen good oppotunities to unload a few. Found myself within 2km of a BB not that long ago, anything else and it would have been a free kill. Really wish we had the WW2 refit on Belfast at times

The problem with 5.7 cruisers is that you may face battleships that you can’t do much against head on since you’re forced to use the heavy fleet spawn (4.7 destroyers also struggle against cruisers in uptiers of course, but at least you can avoid them by using the light fleet spawn). You also risk getting into those dreadful Conquest maps that have absolutely zero cover, and even if you don’t the heavy fleet spawn is much more exposed than the light fleet spawn in general.
If I had to choose from that list I’d probably pick Karlsruhe or Dupleix since they’ve got reasonable fire rate and SAP shells (armour is lacking but IMO if you get into a fight where you need to depend on your armour, you ain’t coming out of it in good shape anyway).
Would not recommend RN Tigre. Firepower is arguably worse than USS Bagley and Aylwin but sits at 4.3 for some reason.
Karlsruhe SAP? not the AP?
AP only has 1.1 kg TNT. It’s definitely good for an AP shell of that calibre, but most of the time it’s easier and more profitable to wear down an enemy’s crew count by hitting less armoured areas than trying to go for a one-shot kill in the magazines, so SAP is more useful in general (especially in downtiers).

Also I just noticed tigre has 10 seconds reload. yeah won’t pick that thing up
France’s Dougay Trouin has always done well for me tbh, it’s slow, slow firing but somehow seems to destroy TF out of things left and right for me.
Probably because it’s a cruiser at 4.7 in AB so downtiers are even more fun
I’d suggest you to take a look on Karlsruhe, Pr. 56 Blagorodniy and HMS Diamond.
Karlsruhe have great AP and SAP rounds with reasonable fire rate.
Blagorodniy have rangefinder and good SAP (for a destroyer), but it have annoying projectile dispersion.
HMS Diamond have a bit weaker cannons than US destroyers, but it gets better torpedos.
