Suggestion Pending: IRAQI ZSU-23-4 (USA) Captured after abandonment

Well I mean why would it have been modified? It was used for evaluations and Opfor it didn’t need to be modified.

Yeah and so it does not have any unique qualities to differentiate it from the soviet one that would warrant its addition to the game.

Does it need to in order for it to be suggested?

No it does not. But as me and others have pointed out before it is not needed in the US tree and the lack of unique features apart from what just seems to be slightly different storage boxes does make this a copy paste addition.

Name a single 8.0 spaa in the us tt with a good radar (hint the m163 isn’t it)

Okay but wtf. I got it when a nation has a gap with the size of a tech tree and is literally “scrapping the barrel” on available domestic options, but this is a bit too far.

Not only captured modern equipment is a brainrot in its essence as the USA might get all Soviet equipment and Soviets might get most of the NATO equipment, but also why in the hell TTs now need equipment at not every rank, not even BR range, but BR specifically.

Like brochacho, I don’t see why would you need vehicles at every BR, ESPECIALLY for the US. Are they lacking vehicles, like completely lacking, at certain BR brackets? cough cough Japanese TT between 9.7-11.7 cough cough French TT between 10.0 and 12.0 until recently cough cough other minor nations not getting a single vehicle at every BR cough cough

Also, wdym

Okay, how about other nations? And I mean like, any other nation.
Sweden? Japan? France? UK? China?

Of course you can say the latter gets HE-VT at 8.0 (even though the thing might go up by 8.3 given how ridiculous it gets sometimes), but what about the rest?

Furthermore, people say Shilka’s radar goes funky as well, and its not like 23mm guns with such radar is a panacea to those who have ZSU-23-4V already

I know there are holes of 1.3-2.3 size BRs, namely in the US, French and Israeli TTs, but I don’t see how exactly will Shilka for the US gonna solve any of these holes as 7.3 M163 and 8.3 XM246 is not that terrible. And I would have been fine if the US had no option for 7.7-8.7, but like going for that dumb can of warms called “captured modern equipment” to seal the ““hole”” at a single BR (not even a bracket)…?

Oh yeah other nations need more stuff too but I have no knowledge of those
Also, the US has an 8.0 lineup, and the M163 can’t lock worth anything farther than a mile, and even that’s sketchy, also ummm… it’s not directly Soviet and was indeed used by the us most other captured Soviet ground equipment can’t say the same, would have suggested the Opfor m551 but it’s just an unarmed vismod, so this ZSU is just kinda a stand in for that

Yes, I know that. However, there are other nations in such situation as well. Obviously cannot recall all of them, but the one from the top of my head is Swedish 8.0 that I’ve grinded through like half a year ago.

U-SH 405, Ikv 91, Strv 101 and 103A with T-54 make a really solid line-up, but here is the thing: there is no SPAA of 8.0, yet there is 7.7 and 8.3 ones.

So you are basically at an awkward crossroad:

  • take 7.7 VEAK 40 and suffer immense skill issue from a rather questionable radar suite and horrendous 850 m/s HE rounds from 40mm Bofors;
  • take 8.3 Leo2 Marksman and have a really fun time being an effective SPAA with good radar suite, RoF, muzzle velocity and damage, yet constantly fight 9.0/9.3 with stabs, APFSDS rounds that do not care about your armor whatsoever, and sometimes thermals.

And you know, I took the second option, and even though it was painful at stock, I had real fun whenever I faced 7.3/7.7.

Fyi, Sweden has 0 (zero) options for 8.0 SPAA slot, even though the ground line-up is insane if you think about for more than a second (except for CAS, but there are ways around it unlike SPAA).

So, I see no problem of having no SPAA for 0.3-0.7 BR spread, unless the said spread is at the rupture of SPAAG and SAM systems era.

Ikr, because I’ve main’ed Japan for most of the time, and once Thai ground sub-tree was released, I immediately went for M163 (direct copy of the US one).

Even though the tracking radar is rather garbage (it sometimes doesn’t lock a straight flying plane at 1km on a clear day), – hot take incoming – what a positive difference it made for the tree as there was a blank space from 5.3 to 8.3 at the SPAA line.

Finally a 7.3 line-up that includes Ho-Ri prod., M47 and Type 99 had something to defend itself from CAS for 70 SP. I take it with 7.7 Type 87 RCV (P) and Thunderjet as well whenever I feel like doing some CAS while still enjoying Ho-Ri.

Yeah, but from the description of this draft, I see no sufficient difference from a Soviet one.

One thing if the TT craved for one due to aforementioned gaps in BRs, but the other thing is VISMOD that provides nothing gameplay-wise even in the slightest (well, it does have a source of money as OPFOR M1 makes $ for Gaijin).

And while it was used for training purposes, I wouldn’t really take that for a reason to add it anyway. I find stretching the authenticity too hard* for a vehicle at every BR completely unnecessary unless there is an objective necessity for one, and sometimes you have to compromise stuff to make it work (as I shown with an example).

All in all, I’d be fine was there a real lack of SPAA at that range, but I can’t see the reason “there are 2 TT + 1 premium tank and 3 TT aircraft at 8.0” to be valid enough as there are numerous instances of other TTs suffering quite a bit while having no extreme solutions at all (and I’d say adding Shilka to the US is a hella extreme solution).

*I kind of agree to with people saying most, if not all, TTs have lost their authenticity due to C&P, but somewhere it is indeed necessary to keep things more or less balanced; this is a game after all with its own set of rules
