My initial thought was HMS Hawkins but yeah, it’s definitely Valhalla
I never thought i would hear a screenshot one day yet here we are
Torpedo in the water! Torpedo in the water!
I do wonder if they’ll add accurate sonar noises as technology improves.
That said, I have no clue how gaijin would go about asking all the navy having countries in game about what particular noises their military sonars make.
Speaking of sonar, I found this video on youtube about how to operate an ASDIC set.
5:30 mark you hear sonar pings & at 6:55 you hear the sonar return.
They will probably make it some what generic across nations, with an evolution from WWII all the way up to modern days
Even doing that will be tricky as we don’t even know the frequencies of many of these subs, on the performance note anything from the end of WW2 onwards is a relative and biased comparison rather than an objective one due to lack of information.
(For example the UK, France and US all credibly claim to have the best sonar systems currently fitted to an attack submarine and said the same about the last generation (and the UK and US claimed similarly for the generation before that too)).
I don’t know about accuracy, but I do hope they give us some distinct sonar “voices” like Cold Waters has:

It gives each vessel such a different character!

Royal navy guy says royal navy has arguably the best stuff.
Same guy also says the porpoise classes were the quietest in NATO and certainly quieter than soviet ones.
Tbh, he’d probably know about british subs certainly but unless there’s a book published by all the retired heads of nato countries called like “An in-depth comparison of NATO submarines from 1949-2025” then i’d be sceptical on relying on just that source alone.
You can definitely speak a lot to British SSN superiority based on every other Western SSN operator adopting major features the generation after the Royal Navy did (pump-jet propulsors, rafting systems, bow-mounted dive planes (yet to be adopted tbf), anechoic tiling, etc).
But on note of individual systems post things like the aforementioned Oberon’s and their remarkably low signature I wouldn’t be making any bets.
Yeah I expect the same issues we encountered with tanks and jets before that, endless debates and bug reports that go no where because all is still classified
Not to mention things related to subs in general are harder to find because even more secretive than the rest
We’re several blogs deep and no Naval at all yet… the copium fumes tell me this is because submarines are going to “sneak into” the teaser
I have a feeling Subs will be introduced in this years summer update, much like the big bois where last year. The addition of a bunch of new dessies and the torpedo trace changes signal a set up for this and since summer is when less people play the impact of a “bad” update is less impactful.
Problem is they have completely borked NAB since Hornets update and I don’t see them addressing the new issues they have created with the auto repair no one asked for either.
So subs may come and the interest will peak briefly like it did in Leviathans but the inherent issues with Naval are just going to keep people away in the long term.
That’s some fine copium, let me have a hit.
It would make sense for any mention of subs to be kept quiet until the teaser being that the whole point of a teaser is to tease the things that are coming next and it wouldn’t be much of a teaser if it only had things we already knew about.
As much as i want it to come theis update I dont thinks its gonna come, I think its comming on the summer update just like Leviathans
Time to take your last hits of copium before the update trailer, im all in.
No subs, guess we’re waiting until summer.
