Torps in the front, rear and side, 2x8", a plane… Sorry but if you don’t see the capability of this stuff for some cool event or just in the game as a TT vehicle, something tell me if it was from another country you would love it more.

One can find a vehicle ugly but consider it capable at the same time, it’s not exclusive.
I much prefer the 1500T redoutable class, far better looking imo, and has the same rotatable torpedo launchers shenanigans. It was also considered a good sub for its time, unlike Surcouf which was basically a joker card against the naval treaties limiting Cruiser tonnage.
The main issue with french subs isn’t going to be the subs themselves, but the torps i feel like. At least for WW2 era, there is a risk of them being a bit lackluster

yeah i agree.
I don’t think Surcouf’s IRL limitations will hold it back that much in game. On paper, the design can be quite OP for its era and class.
- sufficient guns to negate destroyers hunting you
- Rotable torp launcher making it even more of a nightmare to hunt it down (since it won’t have to point at you to fire)
- Very decent surfaced and underwater top speed
The only area where it will be a bit held back is probably the battleship hunt area, as the torps have a bit of an anemic explosive mass, limited range or limited speed (depending on the modes they’ll implement)

I’d go USS Ackerfish for the win
was it laid down? If yes then it could still be added although i dont think it will. Subs most likely will be limited to 4-5 per nation max.

We also have to know if we gonna have only WW2 sub, or if we gonna go WWI and cold war/modern.
Someone proposed multiple TTs with full list for every nations, it was really possible and cool to see.

hey I got a suggestion for the USS nautilus ready to go at a moments notice
4 of them were laid down ( U-112, U-113, U-114, and U-115) but cancelled due to the outbreak of ww2
