Submarines - WT Discussion

Gaijin hated 2 things. WW2 era and mines, and unfortunately for me, I love 2 things, the WW2 era and mines.

SM U-124 has a decal / skin option

Also Type UE II U-boot one was captured by Japan

Yeah this is classic. If Gaijin ever releases the Type IXB I’ll definitely make this skin for it.

I used some web browser image editor slop to colorize it

WWI-WWII Japan has a surprising amount of both foreign-derived/improved upon designs and straight up foreign subs that were purchased/won/given/captured.

so many opportunities for premiums!

Its a shame there are many coastal boats with mines/depth charges and they will never see submarines, as they will start from 3.0+, apparently. In the bluewater tree.

Post war sub hunters in Japan are going to take the cake at stopping the U-boats from taking over. They were built to hunt Cold War Soviet subs see will so well against a poor U-Boat player that thinks its the happy times.

Anti-sub acoustic guided Torpedoes are going to be fun

Maybe too many mine, is like a big Kaboom ? ;)

I see people bringing them to top tier quite often, so I think we’ll see them

I can’t physically bring them to top tier in Naval EC, for example. You just can’t spawn vehicles that are bellow 3.3

tbh plenty of ships seem to be missing stuff on their own rails

We should make a suggestion about naval EC where if you have 3.3 br ship or higher you could bring lower br boats such as mine layers

Ah, so I’ve seen later boats then

A rotating hedgehog mortar isn’t the most destruction cold war item, for all intensive purposes the Hedgehog is still a Second World war weapon, just on a new mount. Similar the RBU-600 is also just a hedgehog.

A lot of early cold war ships are mainly using late WWII armament & technologies, just instead built between 1945 (although also 1943+) - 1968, the Murasame class Destroyer is one example (tbh all current post war Japanese ships can be seen as such, barring their torpedo armament).

Although with the addition of submarines, maybe we can finally see Imperial Japanese ships recieve their “Flat nose ASW projectile” for the 12.7 cm/50 3rd year Type cannons.

Yet if you want second world war ASW ships for example Japan, better get to researching the No. 1, No. 4, No.13 Subchasers & Mikura/Hiburi class Kaibōkan, as the destroyers will be light on the defences. All of which will be best for Imperial Japanese vessels.

That don’t matter to me. Cold War is Cold War. If it was built after WW2 or was built during WW2 but only saw service after WW2, I don’t care for it.

Thats old dev changelog, isnt it?

In recent changes I saw them change weather presents in naval. Adding thunder with lightning, etc.

When I posted that message it was the only thing there, I also posted it to highlight the test sails for Subs.

Post war Japan put a lot of emphasis off anti submarine warfare right off the bat

I’m looking forward to the Type 89 torpedo that thing is fast
