wonder how sonar works, its hard to get a firing solution with it.

Idk why my sonar doesnt do that.

Its hard to see anything.

It’s naval mines, not ships, although I also think it would be more obvious if Gaijin marked ships on hydrophone like that.

it works just aim at the circles that pop up and than press and hold left mousbutton than move you mous up or down to see that other thing move till its green

Just watched RU stream. Did not see these informations anywhere so posting here…

  • There will be event in next update. We should participate and write feedback. If there are no major bugs or problems several submarines will be added in december update.
  • Submarines will have spawnpoint closer to center of map because of their low speed.
  • If you detect sub in a sub, you can launch torpedo at it. Torpedo will be automatically set to its depth. But only up to 20m depth.
  • If you detect submarine in ship, depth charges will be automatically set to its depth but there will be max depth so you can avoid them.
  • You can cap points in submarine but only at periscope depth
  • If you periscope is visible, ships can lock at you
  • Subs have new modules compared to ships like ballast tanks, air tanks. Damage to these can prevent diving or surfacing. There are also battery packs
  • Airplanes can see submarine when its near surface and bomb it…
  • Ships will also get the “sonar view” feature

ah i see, you change the gain to amplify the noise got it.

nevermind, it works if you do a crash dive from the surface, but if you adjust depth while already underwater it’s much slower

and same thing for surfacing it seems

Some mechanic sounds weirdly similar to how submarines was implemented in WTM, not surprised tho. (Which also means some trick I learned from WTM might work here)

Is your Periscope working?

It’s 2028 and you play a modern SSN/SSK at max depth :

Meanwhile, the humble Spherical Sonar Arrays:

If you dive deeper than periscope depth, you can’t use it. Otherwise it should work perfectly fine.

can’t wait for the endless discussions on cylindrical / spherical / flank / towed sonar arrays X)

Guess what? Nuclear depth charges

indeed and if its green you can fire a shot

  1. Aim your hydrophone at circles (sounds of hostile vessle)
  2. Press and hold left mousbutton, move your mouse up and town to “tune” the circle to green (to get the correct distance)
  3. Click “R” to switch between shooting solution and straight running torpedos

My reply to those asking how to use hydrophone in WT lives.

what exactly do you mean by this? I still can’t get particularly quick dives.

An impromptu image, edited from an in-game screenshot (Some visual effects, such as torpedo wakes, use external assets. the underwater particle effects in the game are really terrible).

Gives me the same vibe as the first trailer of “Battle of Atlantic”

when on the surface, preferably with some speed, spam your dive key (in order to avoid getting stuck at the periscope depth setting)

Then just keep your dive key pressed until you reach the max depth. You should enter a steep dive like Dollar / Betty did

It’s really weird it works that way though
