It was replaced with a fuel compartment post war.

So in wartime it carries sonobuoy there but replaced with fuel tank later?
Oh god we know have another reason why USS Missouri should come out with September 2, 1945 version
It had a bomb rack in the float, and the wings; sonobuoys were an option, the SC-2, also had the option to take 5" rockets (HVAR) so there are other ASW options available.
Pay no attention. Hydroplanes don’t have onboard sonars to detect submarines, they’re only there to complement surface scouting capabilities. Unlike early DD’s that have actual sonars. Furthermore, hydroplanes are fragile and slow, the subs themselves could surface briefly, and should be able to use their deck batteries to down them. Meanwhile, on an interesting note, I found some maps have been expanded immensely. Is this a preparation for something fancy?
I see Cold War / Modern subs one weakness will be launching a missile basically tells everyone your location so everyone will be coming for you.
If the two AI boats are something to say about modern navy proper Anti-Air will likely be enough to stop these missiles. Even some WW2 anti-air might be able to put up a fight as some of anti-ship cruise missiles are not the fastest also if a missile is coming at you the it is some ways easier to hit compared to trying to defend a fellow ship. AI anti-air needs a rework but I am in belief that they should try to shoot down missiles trying to hit your ship even if it is unlikely just to provide something for the launcher to think about that’s its not a 100% free kill you can get unlucky.
