The whole thing about prolific sub users getting it first?
When was Britain a prolific sub user? Haha
Good point, Germany, US, and Japan then
Lol, Britain arguably has the worst ones after my research into them.
For the amount of submarines the Soviets had I’d say they were the worst
I’m talking on a specification standpoint, Soviet subs weren’t all that bad actually, K class is up there with the top contenders.
One of them were built with the help of Germany which is interesting
Apparently they were evaluated as solid but inferior to US subs. Probably in ways that won’t hugely affect gameplay though since it does go faster apparently, and the armament is pretty on par
Russian submarines, speaking of the time of the Second World War, are known as the worst because of the torpedoes they used at that time. The torpedoes, let’s say, went wherever they wanted, but the ship itself was not bad (K-1)
At least one had success tho, causing one of the latgest maritime disasters and loss of life…
Trust me bro.
Anyway, 45-54VT torpedo got added to files. Which is not that much of a different technology ASROC is using.
The 45-54WT torpedo was intended for torpedoing from heights from 700 m to 10000 m at the speed of flight of torpedo launchers up to 800 km / h. Adopted in 1954. It was used on Tu-14T, Il-28T, Tu-16T aircraft.
Caliber, mm: 450
Weight of torpedo, kg: 950
Weight VB, kg: 200
Range (at speed) – 4 km (39 knots)
Application height — 700-10000 m
Carrier speed – up to 800 km/h
Submarines are nasty bussiness
Very true
Yes that torpedo is one of my favorite additions of this update. I hope the be-6 and qing-6 also get it.
It shouldnt be tho. It was only available on Tu-14T, Il-28T and Tu-16T but only Tu-14T is in game. Il28-T is special torpedo version and Tu-16 is not in game at all.
The Soviet 45-54VT (450 mm) high-altitude aviation torpedo was carried by several dedicated platforms, including the Beriev Be-6 flying boat. Russian technical sources explicitly note that the Be-6 could carry two 45-54VT torpedoes under its wing center section (see Aviaru.ru – “Авиационная торпеда 45-54ВТ” and MilitaryRussia.ru entry). The Chinese Qing-6 was simply the domestic re-engined version of the Be-6, and open-source references confirm it retained the Be-6’s torpedo-bomber role (see GlobalSecurity – Qing-6 and Wikipedia – Beriev Be-6). While none of the English-language references spell out “45-54VT” for the Qing-6 by name, the aircraft was a direct continuation of the Be-6 airframe and mission set, so it is very likely that Chinese service Be-6/Qing-6 units employed the same Soviet torpedoes.
“On the torpedo-bomber Il-28T one 45-54VT torpedo was suspended, on the Tu-14T — two, on the Tu-16T — up to six, and on the flying boat Be-6 — two under the wing center section.”
But tbh I haven’t found any other sources so who knows if this is true.
Well actually, since we are getting shot down in WW 2 bombers by AAM from 70’s ships, I can totally see Type VIIB getting yeeted by ASROC across whole map.
On USS Charles F. Adams when you launch AAM one of the voicelines says “Antisubmarines weapons fire”
Cool!
Now that I think about it, more and more French ships armed with L3 torpedoes are getting added to the game, last one being the Intrépide. Although absolutely dreadful against ships, Those are going to be devastating against subs once they’re added to the game.
Same thing happens when you launch RUR-4 on JDS Isuzu
Antisubmarine weapons launch
Antisubmarine weapons fire
Antisubmarine weapons up (is it up?)
Was it always like this?
