Submarines - WT Discussion

Has anyone tried to suggest submarines in the ‘passed to developers’ after an update?

Naval battles suck. There is always that one player that shoots you from behind cover on the other side of the map. Submarines would silence their fire. I just played 2 naval battles and I quit.

Try EC, it should be available tomorrow after lunchtime.

Is it true that they were going to introduce a new type of ship this year or at the beginning, right? Could that type of ship be the super battleship? (Yamato, Iowa…) Because if it’s the super battleships, I think more than one of you, including me, will shoot yourself in the balls.

I came to this conclusion because Gaijin mistakenly installed electronic warfare “pods” (I don’t know the exact word) on one of its Russian planes, and that would most likely be the one they’d introduce in the month of the upcoming big update instead of submarines

I think they accidentally teased them (the EW pods) but tbh, thise are used so that radar cant see you, and i dont think they would add more BBs yet (besides the ones teased,no super BBs hopefully) however, it might be a good idea that when the next ‘passed to developers’ opens, someone should represent us for submarines, including a list of starter subs, history on them, armaments, and service (if possible)

I tried to post suggestion of submarines that I posted here couple days ago. I wasnt sure where t opost it exactly as its very complex suggestion covering vehicles, game mechanics, UI etc. Sugestion moderator told me there is already a sub usggestion and I can post ideas here Spawn Point Based and BR Dependent Submarines

I have said a couple of things that may be of interest in that forum

Well, electronic counter measures such as jamming pods, just make you so visible they cannot get a decent lock. But using the system does inadvertently advertise to everyone where you are.

Submarines have two (technically three) ways of lying about their position.

First is dropping a noisemaker. This is a thing that is dropped behind the submarine making shit loads of submarine noise in the place where it was dropped. Very loud so it may fool simpler passive acoustic torpedoes.

Next is tube launched decoys. They do the exact same thing as a noisemaker but they move forwards in a straight line making a racket which is useful if you want to suddenly go quiet and let the decoy mislead a bunch of surface ships to somewhere where you aren’t.

Finally we’ve got doglegging torpedoes. This is firing your wire guided torpedoes from somewhere a surface ships is unlikely to detect, have them parallel to the surface ships for a bit, and then turning them towards the enemy ships therefore the torpedo is coming from a direction you’re not in, not that the surface ships know that.

Also if Guided Torpedoes were added, and their proper search patterns were implemented. You wouldn’t be giving a direct bearing back to the sub if they were fired without a track.

Or If they could be properly planned.

Also, the recently added expanded AA UI could probably be pretty easily rejigged as a “plotting table” too, so preplanned maneuvers may well also be possible in future.

Don’t worry Duck, I already knew about that. Just wanted to define what “jamming” pods normally do in concept.

The Pr 1124 in the latest leak list feels like more anti-sub preparation, I love it

Yes I’m super happy to see it as well!

Well, DDG-2 could be pretty good at that too ☺

we need to add Sonar for ships then.

How? It has nothing that we didn’t already have in the game long ago.

@xPorkulusx maybe it 's better to refer to it by the colloquial Grisha-class instead, lol

Also so nice that we finally get that.
Forrest Sherman and USS Gyatt would’ve been cool too.
I still have hopes for submarines this year!

It’s just an iconic anti-submarine vessel.

Yeah I realize that there’s a gunboat in-game with the same designation, whoops
