Net laying / boom defence ships,
Landing ships,
Armed merchant ships,
Armed training ships,
Dan-layers,
Armed tugboats,
Hovercraft,
Repair vessels,
Radar picket ships,
Armed tugs.
Most classes of these vessel types are armed, albeit some are lightly armed for their displacement.
Monitors?
Mine layers?
Mine sweepers?
Can’t think of much more else.
Minelayers and Minesweepers are already in game, though not working their main duty
Yeah, this is part of the reason it seems like we’re getting submarines this year (again, not guaranteed) because what is there really left to add?
As for “modern warships,” we actually have an answer for that from the same Q&A:
It sounds like it’s something that Gaijin is considering but is a bit further off due to the challenges in implementation.
We actually already have these types of vessel in game, though we should definitely get more of them and expand some of their mechanics.
Monitors and Coastal Defense ships would be a great expansion of the fleets in War Thunder and would be necessary for introducing, say, the Swedish navy

Yeah, the main game will almost certainly get these eventually. We’ll have to see how submarines are implemented first, though.

I don’t see any reason why not. All of the mechanics needed exist already in other ship types
pop up in the middle of enemy team and point blank some poor BB with a 12 inch would be hilarious
Do you thinks they could/should add the midget subs Japan built for like a real low br submarine like 1.7 - 2.7 based on which version of the midget sub your discussin
LHD’s and LHA’s if you count them seperate to true carriers
Already been added to WTM, so a possibility.
