I wonder how/what they will do with the 3 float planes of the I-400. IRL they were able to carry either a 800kg bomb or a torpedo I believe. Would be very interesting to see how it’s gonna be implemented

Okay, feels like I’ve had to go over this a few times in this thread, but once again.

The FAQ with BVVD had three relevant points of data about submarines:

1. Submarines were being worked on (as confirmed in the image you posted).
2. 2025 would have a focus on adding new vehicle types for all modes:
   
3. 2025 would feature both top battleships, and “other types of ships and weapons” for naval:
   

Obviously, this is not a direct confirmation that submarines will be coming in 2025. But it seems pretty clear that they’re referring to expanding with new vehicle types, and there aren’t many new ones to add other than submarines and playable carriers.

It’s important to note that the development of the “other types of ships and weapons” is “in parallel” with the big battleships-- so that makes it seem like it will be coming not too long after.

What about hovercraft?

Off the top of my head;

Net laying / boom defence ships,
Landing ships,
Armed merchant ships,
Armed training ships,
Dan-layers,
Armed tugboats,
Hovercraft,
Repair vessels,
Radar picket ships,
Armed tugs.

Most classes of these vessel types are armed, albeit some are lightly armed for their displacement.

Yeah, this is part of the reason it seems like we’re getting submarines this year (again, not guaranteed) because what is there really left to add?

As for “modern warships,” we actually have an answer for that from the same Q&A:

It sounds like it’s something that Gaijin is considering but is a bit further off due to the challenges in implementation.

We actually already have these types of vessel in game, though we should definitely get more of them and expand some of their mechanics.

Monitors and Coastal Defense ships would be a great expansion of the fleets in War Thunder and would be necessary for introducing, say, the Swedish navy
