SU9/11, using NS45 to replace NS37?

I just checked some websites that said SU9/11 could use NS45 instead of NS37, and due to the large size of ammunition they can take fewer rounds of 45mm ammo, is that possible for SU9/11? because consider now we have aphe for NS45, it will be a very good buff for Russia 7.0-8.0 to solve lack of cas issue.

I checked some websites which stated that the was just a single prototype built of each version, so imho “could use…” looks rather optimistic…

Is there any similar cases? Because till now I can only check the English version

Not sure if this is just a misunderstanding.

Your OP sounded like that “could use” was a kind of switch option. I expressed my concerns that such a switch option would have been actually in place as there was just one Su-9 and just one Su-11 prototype ever built - that’s why i used “optimistic”.

From my pov gaijin is way less restrictive regarding sources for USSR hardware to be “adjusted/upgraded/buffed” - so if you are able to find any official USSR documents talking about the sheer possibility of a 45 mm you will get it done. Best reference is the single XP-50 prototype which was unarmed…

Have a good one!

In that case, every 20mm MG 151/20 should get the modification to be able to switch to 15mm MG 151/15 cannon, as its also only a barrle and ammo change. Even tho IRL Planes like the Do 217 N and Fw 190 and Ju 87 D-5 never had the 15mm barrle, as they werent really used in Ground attack in that direction or so.

The other situation is TISMA, there are only 2 prototypes, and only one has 37mm gun, 45mm gun is like a plan but never show on this prototype product, the only issue is I don’t have enough Russian version document to prove SU11/9 has such kind of situations
